I just find it weird that a game made 10 yrs ago hasn't been surpassed in terms of realistic gore. Why do all these developers hold back the gore in FPS games? If you are going to make a game where the goal is to shoot people then at least make it realistic. I hate that in Call of Duty when you throw a grenade at a player there isn't any kind of visible damage at all. Why can movies get away with showing realistic gore (Saving Private Ryan), but if a game has it then it is looked down upon? Max Payne 3 comes close, but it still isn't as gory as Soldier of Fortune 2.

Is there anyone else out there that gets annoyed by the lack of visible damage in games?

That has cartoonish gore that is so over the top it's laughable. I'm talking about realistic gore.

I'm not sure about SOF2, but the first Soldier Of Fortune was hell of a fun. Guts spill out when you shoot in the stomach, and it's possible to shoot every limb of an enemy. Good times...

Too much gore doesn't make a game.
