Sonic Unleashed has came out in the past few days and to celebrate what has been you favorite Sonic so far, 3D and 2D?

For 2D it would have to be Sonic 3 for me. I have not played many of the older 2D games (waiting for some more to come out on VC) but I love this game. The levels are designed cool and the bosses pack a challenge.

For 3D I guess it would be Sonic Heroes. I liked how there was no mech or fishing levels, just Sonic levels but you controlled 3 people. The Sonic Adventure games were not bad but not great. I have not played Unleashed yet so hopefully it is good.

For 2D, I loved Sonic 1. It's still my favorite, and I play it all the time on my copy of Sonic Mega Collection.

For 3D, that'd be Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut. While it's better than the original SA1 for the Dreamcast, the lack of the additional DLC that the SDC really ticked me off. However, the Game Gear games made up for it. :)

Oh, and my favorite spin-off game would have to be Sonic Shuffle for the Dreamcast. I need to get it again, but for a party game, it was really fun. Not as good as Mario Party, but fun in it's own right.

For 2D, I liked most of the old ones like Sonic 1,2,3, Sonic and Knuckles, etc. I miss playing them, but it was alot more enjoyable when I was younger. For 3D I say Sonic Adventure DX is my favorite, along with Sonic 3D(I think that's what it's called).

Yeah all the original Sonic games were great. The Sonic Advance games are really good to, they had all the original characters + Amy so that was nice.

Sonic 3 when combined with Sonic and Knuckles was probably the best Sonic experience to date. It's been mostly downhill since then.

If you can't find a Sega CD version of it, you could always get it in the "Sonic Gems Collection" for the XBox, PS2, and Gamecube. Personally, I own it for the Cube, and I love it.

Sonic CD undoubtedly.Panzer_Zwei

Might I ask why? I know a bunch of people like Sonic CD, but I've played it and I've found it to be my least favorite side-scrolling Sonic game (I.E. worse than all the Genesis games).

The levels are poorly designed, the future/past system is annoying (especially getting up to, and maintaining the speed required to travel in time, considering the levels don't flow well and you're always getting stopped by something), the music is kinda bland (the Japanese soundtrack is excellent, though), the bosses are a bit too easy...

I could go on. Why do so many people like this train-wreck of a game?

Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Although I just bought Sonic Gems Collection, so if Sonic CD is as excellent as a lot of people seem to say, the above answer could change.

2d: Can't decide between Sonic 2 and 3.

3d: Sonic Adventure. I haven't bothered with the rest and probably never will.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles is the best the series has ever had to offer. It seems like they should have made it one massive game to begin with (maybe they wanted to but couldn't fit it on the cart?) but i still play it to this day on Sonic Mega Collection +.

I just found Sonic 3D Blast the other day, and I remember that was one of my favorites. But Sonic 2 is my absolute favorite. EDIT: And Sonic Adventure 2, which I happened to like better than the first.

Definately Sonic 2 for the Genesis/Mega Drive. Possibly the best platformer of all time.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2. That or Sonic Advance 2. That game was just all kinds of awsome.

I havent played Sonic Unleashed, but I doubt it's better. I still need to play the Sonic Rush games though.

Then try Unleashed. It's probably the best 3-D Sonic game, it is imo. Anyways, my top five are: 5) Sonic Advance 3 4) Sonic Adventure 3) Sonic Unleashed 2) Sonic 3 & Knuckles 1) Sonic CD

It wasn't as bad as you make it out t be but for the most part i agree the levels didn't really flow well, didn't like the music (played it on gems collection so i dunno what soundtrack i heard), and there was no super sonic anyways Sonic 3&K was m fave 2D and Sonic Adventure was the only great 3D game i feel
