Way back in the distant past of the game cube era, I cried fowl when I found out that metroid prime was going to be an FPS, though honestly, it wasn't that bad. I do, how ever, crave a fresh installment of the side scrolling legend we all know and love fusion and zero mission were the best thing on the gba fo awhile, they could even keep 3d garphics as long as it a side scroller, who's with me?

I would be up for 2.5D remake of Super Metroid on the DS...or something more on that Metroid Dread rumor from awhile back. :? I love the 2D Metroids. I have not been too fond of the Prime series, but to be fair, I have never really played them, so it is not fair to judge. I would love another 2D entry on the DS though. :P

I agree. While I loved the Prime series and am looking forward to Other M, I really wish they would come out with a 2D metroid every once in a while. I also think it would be cool if they made a compilation of the past titles for the DS or something.

That would be pretty neat, kind of like the Megaman Zero compilation, except that add some new things to the games. :P

Hopefully they'll do another classic side-scroller for the 3DS at least.

That'd be cool.

BUt metroid has been fine up to now as well, so I don't really care. Hopefully Other: M will deliver.

honestly, i like prime more than super metroid. i cant help but feel a little cheated with a 2d exploration game when there are perfectly good 3d ones. but as a gamer who prefers 3d metroid games, im not terribly excited by other m. and judging by the responses of gamers in this thread that prefer 2d ones, those gamers arent terribly excited for it either. nintendo is trying to appeal to both sides by going half way on the issue i dont think very many people are going to be satified with the result.

I don't mind where the series has gone, but I don't like where it seems to be going. Metroid's focus has never been on hack and slash action, and the who "Metroid Gaiden M" direction looks honestly lame.

I thought other M looked intrigueing...until I found who was developing it. Then all hope and excitement turned to rage, despair, and an odd need to punch a turtle. It's just hard to believe that nintedo trusted one of it's classics to the kings of exagerated breast physics.

Yep, no map, lose all your energy every time you die, and no savegames, just a long code you have to enter in manually. :)

I'm looking forward to Other M. I like the mix of Ninja Gaiden with 2d/3D sidescrolling. Now I just need to get a Wii.

I think shadow complex showed that a 2D metroid game would indeed be awesome.
