Hi, I'm getting in that period where I just browse games unsure of what to get.

I want a RPG with lots of hours of game play. I prefer to be able to pause the game (as in more strategic battles) and having a party is cool too. I prefer the game to have big character customization, lots of loot, attractive story, preferably non linear although I guess it's OK if it's linear too. Once again I'd prefer the game to keep me playing at least 40 hours main story. The following games should give you a hint of what I want and the following games I don't want or have played:

Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2

Dungeon Siege 1 & 2

Dragon Age Series

Baldur's Gate 1 & 2

Temple of Elemental Evil

Icewind Dale 1 & 2

Pillars of Eternity

Might be more but can't think now. Are there anymore games like these? I enjoyed tactical battles, controlling different class characters and those I played took me a good amount of time to complete. I can accept games that are not quite the same but similar as long as they will keep me entertained for some time without getting tired of it. I tried searching a lot but couldn't find anything so best to ask. Sorry for bad english.

If your fine with older games you could try your hands at tactics ogre. Lots of customization, and great story in my opinion. Played differently though, more like FF tactics.

Just as the other guys above, I can definitely recommend the Souls games, The Last Remnant and Arcanum.

As for older games, there is one series I haven't seen in this thread that is also a role playing game, not top down, but the RP aspect is there all the more, and by now it should be quite cheap with quite some many hours of gameplay in it. That would be the Gothic series. Gothic 1, Gothic 2 and Gothic 2: Night of the Raven. If you really like the series for it's first 2 games,

the third game might be interesting as well, but it was quite badly received back in the day, because it required Piranha Bytes to even out a huge amount of bugs that back in the day when they weren't fixed yet, could break entire quest lines. Also the combat system of G3 isn't completely balanced, but again, if you really like the first 2 games, it is worth picking up.
