What was the first game/games you picked up when you got the system? I actually held off when they first came out because there were only 2 games available. Also what was your favorite game of all time on the system?

Mario 64

Starfox 64

Goldeneye

Turok

Conker was one of my favorites, only because it was so outlandish for Nintendo

it's funny because the n64 was still popular at my school 5 years ago in 6th grade. Alot of kids my age including me were playing through ocarina of time. Kind of weird really. Ocarina of time was like the cool thing.

I never owned an N64 game until Wii Virtual Console because I was a PlayStation kid. Catching up has been a mostly-good experience.

I think my first game was Super Mario 64.

I also have memories of being completely addicted to a game called fighting force.

I didn't really buy many games for my n64 since I was only 9 when I got mine in '99, but I loved Diddy Kong Racing.

Wow! I can't believe it has seriously been that long, it kind of makes me feel old and I'm only 24. But anyhoo, I got my N64 back during Christmas Eve 1996 and my first game was Super Mario 64. My favorite game however is just like everyone elses on the system; you guessed it, Zelda OoT :P

I remember getting it for X-mas in 1998, I was so happy. I only got one game with it, Starwars Pod Racer, which I loved, then for my birthday, which is soon after X-mas I got Super Smash Bros and Starfox 64. I could never get past the 2nd level in starfox, but loved it anyhow.

I picked up Mario 64 a week before I actually got the console, I didn't want to get the console and have the game not be available. I didn't have my name on a list either, and there was a huge wait list, luckily people on the lists never pick up their stuff so I just walked into the store like "do you have any N64's in the back" and they're like "....yeah" and I was just like "well will you sell it to me" and they were like "...yeah, okay", same thing worked for the Wii, never had my name on a list just walked in and asked nicely. Anyhow, my favorite N64 game was Tetrisphere, I so desperately wish Nintendo would bring this one back as a downloadable title for Wii VC, heck I don't even want a 3DS but I'll buy one just if they made Tetrisphere a downloadable game for the 3DS.

You should try Road Rash port on Sega CD, that version was my favorite, the game has an excellent soundtrack but the soundtrack only plays in the menus in all other ports, the Sega CD version has the soundtrack play while in the actual game as well.

I got mine on launch day. I busted *** earning money the few weekends before and got my dad to take me to Target early in the morning to get one. They only had 2 in stock, and I was the second person in line (so much for my dad's idea that waiting the car would work just as well :P). I got the system with Mario 64, which was brilliant. But I still think the most "oh my God" moment with the system for me was playing Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire on the Hoth stage. It was EVERYTHING I had ever hoped to do in a videogame. The game itself had some issues, but that level and the speederbike chase were just what I had wanted to do since I was a kid and that game was letting me do it. The overall story was pretty good too- I actually bought the book and read it (and I hate reading novels). Now that I think about it, they should definitely make another game in the same vein for modern systems. However, my favorite game was probably WWF No Mercy. If there was an Xfire-type system for the N64, I'm sure I could easily best most WoW players in hours spent. My friends and I had waited a long time to play a good ladder match and that game had it. But of all the Aki wrestling games, I have a special place in my heart for WCW/NWO World Tour, simply because it was the first wrestling game I had for the system and I had just bought it on a whim. Man, now I want an N64 again.

I actually have Wave Race 64 as my favorite N64 game. The N64 was one console I was really delighted with at least until the 3dfx Voodoo debuted on the PC.

Best version of Road Rash too. The PS1 version sucked. I also love the definitive versions of Star Control 2 and Space Hulk!

I got one for christmas in 98 I got Zelda and Star Wars Rogue Squadron with it :) before that I had my SNES and Zelda OOT was the first Zelda I ever played and the first 3D game I ever played so it completely blew my mind! Going from Super Mario World on SNES to that was a HUGE leap!!

EDIT:I actually started replaying Paper Mario today on the same N64 I got for christmas that day :) what a coincidence that I felt like playing that game on the N64 15th anniversary :P

I never owned a N64, but I played a lot of games on it at friends houses. Probably the first game I played was Army Men: Sarges Heroes.

Wow, that brings back memories of my friend buying 3dfx voodoo. Did Quake come out at that time? All I rememeber is him obsessing over that graphic card and Quake.
