Maybe you could try working out a deal where if you get X amount of studying done before Y o'clock, she'll let game until Z o'clock. Kinda sucks, but until you move out, your mom gets final say.

Although, how early does your mom usually make you stop? If you're playing your XBox at 3am, she may have a point.

Sleep well and get a good education. Don't waste your time gaming, you can game later in life. You will thank me later.

To piggy-back on what was said here. What time are you supposed to go to bed? Also, what are your current grades? I ask because my kids don't play video games at all until their homework is done each day. My oldest is in honors classes each year, so I'm not too worried about them playing games for a few hours on the weekends. I suppose it depends on the real reason on why your mother doesn't want you to play games. Talk to her, come up with a solution. She probably wants you to be outside more, but that is only a thought. Best of luck to you!

@ghost12: I have to agree with your parent, sleeping is usually a good idea at night, if you are not studying or (presumingly) socialising.

You're a student, and at school. You can always play games during the weekend at some point can't you? Dark Souls III is a fantastic game, but it's not going anywhere.

You need to sleep at night instead of playing. Too much playing at night is bad for your health

During the day, I go to school and study. At night, I rest or sleep when I get home, do important things (e.g homework, study), and if there's nothing important to do, I will play videogames until 11 in the evening then sleep. Videogames helped me relieve stress and tiredness but not to the point that I feel too much tired to game.

Slap her and tell her you're a grown man now.

Wait until you become an adult and your girlfriend is telling you off for playing too much ;-)

But seriously, focus on your education for now. Like @RSM-HQ has said, game aren't going anywhere. I've got Just Cause 3/Witcher 3/Halo Wars 2 stacked. They'll still be there when I get round to playing them.

Definitely know how that goes, @ghost12! However, like most people are saying in here, education and sleep are very important! I'd say to set up a schedule for gaming, studying/homework, and a time that's best for you to go to sleep. :) Best of luck!

The bold portion of your comment made me seriously laugh out loud when I read it! It reminds me when I would read the game instructions booklets to find out more information about the game in bed back when the SNES was new. My brother and I would stay up doing this all the time until our step-dad heard us whispering...came into our room and found one of the booklets and consecutively threw EVERY booklet we had. At that point we had about 20-25 books. I miss when games would tell you their background that way. Now most games don't even add a booklet. If they do, its no more than a few pages.

Games will always be there. Focus on your education. If all else fails buy a 3DS and play under your pillow.

@ghost12: Hahaha, your post bring back good memories of the all-nighter I did. My advise is sleep and give time to your studies. Soon, you will be in the game of life.

you're really asking how to stop your mum turning off your xbox at 3am?

unfortunately mothers tend to have this innate instinct to stop their offspring from doing stupid shit and messing up things in their lives like their education. hopefully she's picked up on your inability to write in sentences and is doing something about that too

@ghost12: If you're old enough to be in college, your parents should be giving you the responsibility of managing your own time. Discuss this with your Mom. If all else fails, move out if you can, that's all.
