Most disappointing game 2014 so far. . .?

Watch Dogs.

FFXIII Lightning Returns wasn't really a disappointment because I don't think anyone thought it was going to be good. I'd have to go with Thief over Watch Dogs simply because personally I don't usually expect much from games that are hyped up as much as Watch Dogs was so really it only reinforced my skepticism. I expected so much more from Thief.

Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2. I loved the first one to death, but the second one was a train wreck.

I am very disappointed with 2014 games, especially with Microsoft game line up.

Dark Souls 2. I absolutely loved previous games in the series, but this one was just such a hollow, dead, exhaustingly unfun experience that i couldn't even be bothered to finish it.

From all the games mentioned here, most disappointing is Thief.

Watch Dogs wasn't too bad.

It was Drakengard 3 for me.

Was expecting the maps to be big enough for the use of a Dragon, like the two PS2 games, but they completely messed that up with constant corridor map layouts.

Watch dogs.. seriously the hype surrounding the game made it seem it was the GTA killer... and it ended up being "meh."

@Ballroompirate: Actually now that I've made a list going back to what I've bought/played, Wildstar was pretty disappointing.

That was a shame. I really enjoyed the instances and actually had fun playing a healer (which is so rare), but instances are so few and far between and you have to run a gauntlet of utter boredom with the leveling just to get to the good stuff. For an altoholic like myself, that really killed my interest after only a couple weeks.

X2 Rebirth

Paid full price for this game and it's crap.

I haven't played Thief yet but I got it free with my video card, so I'll check it out, I don't mind things "consolized" as long as it's good, I'd rather play with a 360 controller anyway.

What's wrong with Watchdogs? The trailers were great.

Cyberpunk - After Witcher 2, high expectations

@ZombieKiller7: GTA V is great I think. Thief doesn't feel anything like its predecessors or like a well-designed game. And Watch Dogs is something you just have to play to figure out whether you like it or not, because that one has the most mixed opinions all over the internet. I personally enjoyed the hell out of it though.

Thief! damn! Why? because Sleeping dogs has the better gameplay and quality HOWEVER, thief do requires 4 gig of minimum RAM! swooooosshhh!

I'd also like to add Murdered: Soul Suspect. I was actually hoping the game would turn out to be engaging. All I got was a poorly written story, overly simplistic mechanics that won't let you fail, a severely limited world, and a ton of bugs and glitches.

I agree, if not for the fact that Thief never looked that great, compared to the Ubihype, Thief 4 and Watchdogs would break even. However ubisoft hyped Watchdogs to the skies and lied about the graphics etc. making Watchdogs my lead contender for most disappointing game of 2014.

@mastermetal777: Yeah but it became fun after the bridge level so atleast it didnt end with a poor piss last few hours. The campaign was more diverse than any other fps in the lat 10 years ,the developers had alot of ideas, but couldnt quite maintain the nonlinear theme all the way across, could have used 2 more levels that are like the first few and make the mech scene a bit longer. That labor camp mission is where the game started to become linear and scripted and less about running around shooting nazis which is sad becuase the shooting mechanics are among the best i haver ever seen.

@marcheegsr: Like all infamous games. I havent played second son, butthe first infamous was uber repettive, the second one was shoter and less repettive with less crap on the open world, is the third one even smaller? Seriously though, take the graphics away and infamous ss is a 7, some people really rated high due to the graphics and didnt notice how repettive and short the game was, which is what everyone seems to be complaining about.

Watchdogs and thief too, this year felt like devs were not even trying.

Can't say I was disappointed with DkS2, I knew the new director/team would never live up to the past.

There were some underwhelming games, but I can't say I was disappointed about any of them.

Lords of Shadow 2

I was crazy excited to play Watch Dogs, looked amazing from all the trailers and I even pre-ordered it which is something I never do. Got the game, played it for a bit then just got bored, such a dull game.

Watch Dogs, and all Indie games I have played to date except FEZ.

TLoU Remastered. Not a reflection of the original release. The remastered version brings in so many bugs to the experience it's not even funny. It's so bad it essentially breaks the game at points.

I think you nailed it there are many other games which were dissapointing but out of the main games Thief felt so last gen, more like beginning of last gen with all it's loading screens and bade controls and linear gameplay which just felt like such a let down to what thief was.

WatchDogs was a let down because of the meh story, and the main character being pretty stale, I mean it says something about a game when every side character is better developed than the main, but I have finally got into the game it self, it has taken me this long to finally understand the game, and I'm quite enjoying it, I'm a little bored of Ubisoft giving me everything to find at the start with markers on the map, and it is just making me follow the main quests, would of been nice to progress through it finding new parts instead of being all there from the beginning but that's how Ubisoft do it, AC is the same so wasn't expecting much.

Forza Horizon 2 was one of the best games of the year, and better than anything Sony brought to the table by a wide margin.

Destiny? Nah just kidding that game was doomed to be shit as soon as Bungie announced it.

most games i've played this year have been a let down.

Also Civilization Beyond Earth was disappointing to me. Its not bad, but if you compare it to Civilization 5, its a pointless game to play because its not as fun or addicting and lacks Civ 5's epicness.

Watch Dogs - Easy choice for me. That game was awful.
