Jak II (Always preferred this over the original Jak & Daxter. It’s more dark and gritty. Plus the addition of Dark Jack is great. Flying around in the air vehicles I’ve always found fun. Man oh man, getting that hover board for the first time was sweet too.)
Sly Racoon 2: Band of Thieves. (Great sequel in my opinion. Just felt like it was more open world than the first game. I think all Sly sequels are great compared to the first game but I’d say my favourite is Thieves in Time.)
Kingdom Hearts II (Much better gameplay and for me it’s more of a memorable game in general compared to the first. It just kind of amps everything up. The first sequence playing as Roxas could not be more perfect either and nostalgia as hell.
That’s all I can think of at the moment. I guess a lot of people will comment “RDR2!!!” Lol.
Max Payne 2 don't get me wrong I love the first game it has better atmosphere then the sequel but still the gameplay improvements and physics was a huge improvement. Also........
@sakaixx: Love the Megaman Battle Network games. Such a shame that I missed a chance to play them on the Wii U virtual console. I only owned my Wii U for like 2 months then sold it.
Games that never had good sequels or peaked at a certain point....
Ultima 7 > Ultima 8 or 9
Syndicate (1993) > Syndicate 2
Halo > the newer ones
Civilization 5 > Civ 6
Leisure Suit Larry 6 > the newer ones
Tomb Raider 2013 > newer ones
Red Alert 2 > newer
C&C 3 > C&C 4 (but may have peaked more at C&C 2)
Simcity 2-3-4 > newest
Carmageddon 2 > newer
Privateer > priv 2
Probably most of this may be nostalgia but thats how i feel about them. Especially Halo, i mostly lost interest in the games even though visually and technically they improved and there is no debate about that.
Couldn't agree more TR2013 pacing and combat feels so good the sequels don't come close to it.
Idk, looking above I'd agree with everyone's lists (except Skyrim - what a step down from Morrowind; IMO inferior RPG to Oblivion in terms of depth as well, but I'll grant that it fixes as many of Oblivion's missteps as it makes afresh so the quality balance between the two is debatable)
Saw a lot of games mentioned that I'd agree with. Uncharted 2, Mass Effect 2, LittleBigPlanet 2 and Portal 2 for sure. Also there's Saints Row 2, Half Life 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Killzone 2, and Resistance 2.
@speeny: I actually played them for the first time not terribly long ago. The first one was too outdated for me to really enjoy, but the Half-Life 2 episodes have aged quite well. I'd definitely recommend at least playing those ones on PC if you can.
@SoNin360: I never finished the first one because the game kept crashing at a certain point. Wasn't even half way through. That was back in 2015 though. Will boot it up again one day.

Ya it doesn't waste your time finding too many things to upgrade your weapons, or waste your time in scripted events walking around laggy towns. Combat is better also, the guns had a much more powerful feel to them. I remember in Shadow of Tombraider, the freaking guns felt like toys, i'd be unloading into people and the impact didn't feel right.
Just lots of shooting people in the face and running at a quick pace through the game. The other games have too much padding to make it feel longer but there isn't much there. Rise isn't as boring as Shadow, but still has far too much time wasting mechanics and padding in it.
Plus Lara got really ugly for some reason, she went from juicy and thick in the 2013 version, to a buttery two face in the most recent. Her looks are odd, depending on the lighting she may look decent or outright terrifying. She looked mostly fine in the cutscenes, in the regular gameplay engine she looked like strange, her bizzare skin glow/tone changes depending on the lighting, you'd be in a cave, but her skin would be glowing too much. Her eyes and teeth were really poorly done as well, looked like a creepy mannequin.
Reminds me of the festivus episode of Seinfeld where Jerrys girlfriend was attractive in some lighting but in bad lighting she looked like a hideous troll.
It seems like theres two types of people, we are the type that like the more gun action and shooting people in the face like with TR 2013. Some others liked the slower less fun version with Shadow of the Tombraider where you don't do much combat but more tomb exploration.
Just look at the weird lighting on this freak from the 2018 game.
Now look at the mint version from 2013
LMAO as soon as you started to described how she's a two face lol my mind just went to that Seinfeld episode lol. I just watched that one last week again because of Christmas one of my favs. But yeah TR2013 is great I still like to replay it sometimes it's much more memorable then it's sequels too.
This game has been the worst Metal Gear in the saga, only followed by Metal Gear Survive.
Nobone is better than Metal Gear Solid 1.
True, while MGS2 was still a pretty good game, it had a lot of bad game design and Kojima Hideo san seemed to throw pacing out the window. Metal Gear Solid the original is extremely well made and the sequel seems to be more about easter-eggs than being a great game itself.
