There have been rumers going around on the net about RE2 news/release being "soon." What is the possibility of Capcom releasing the remake around that date? Has a developer ever releases a major game unexpectedly around a "major date?" Or would the consumer be more likely just to here news on it?

@Black96Z: That would be cool but I don't think anything will happen till e3, though I'd happily be proven wrong.

Main reason I believe this to be true is; for the anniversary all they'll need to do is give Resi7 Gold a discount or something, and give a brief reminder "we're still working on Remake 2".

This is real life and is also Capcom. Capcom wants Resi7 to sell much better than it currently is. From a business point of view it makes sense, Christmas is over and many have spending money and vouchers.

Especially. Seeing as, chances are the Survival Horror audience will prefer Resident Evil 2 Remake over Resident Evil 7. Capcom doesn't want to give people reason not to buy Resi7.

That would have been the perfect release date for it, but given that we still haven't even seen any gameplay of it, that seems very unlikely. They haven't even talked about it in a very long time which kind of makes me a little worried that it may have been quietly cancelled.

I bet Capcom is still having a tough time deciding on the original tank controls for RE2 remake or updated controls. I would hope they stick with the original tank controls ala the remake of the original Resident Evil, which is to this day the best survival horror game ever.

@RSM-HQ: As you say, Capcom will not promote RE2 Remake when they're still selling RE7 Gold Edition. Infos might arrive after March 2018 (end of fiscal year)

No way, I'd be so disappointed if it goes for tank controls... 3rd-person would the best current option to me.

To me, 3rd person would be a horrible decision, it would be a disgrace to call that RE2. Love the tank controls (ala remake) to give the game that claustrophobic feel. If they do it 3rd person and lose tank controls, call it something else because that's what it is,

@AFBrat77: REmake controls are already aging imo, won't work nowadays. And RE2 was not as distressing as the first one - I'm okay with fixed camera angles and the gameplay that comes with but they'll have to be more dynamic. It's not a remaster

That would be amazing if they just surprised launch the game on that date but I really doubt that will happen. I do think that they’ll very likely show some stuff off on how the remake is coming along on that date.

@AFBrat77: I love the Resident Evil Remake in every way, it's my favorite in the series.

However, I can't see the second game Remake being fixed camera angles. And for me that's fine, so long as it keeps what made Resi2 special.

Thing is; Fixed Cameras was never what made the original game what it is_

limited inventory slots, limited items, puzzles, and bosses that will give you trouble. From a gameplay standpoint that's Resident Evil 2.

And so long as they do that well, the Resi4s camera angle is fine. Which the original Remake didn't have the option in doing, because 4 wasn't around at the time to influence, so it wasn't an option. So when you think about it, if 4 came before the Gamecube Remake? the camera may have been different.

@RSM-HQ:

For me, thank God the RE4 camera wasn't used on REmake, that masterpiece is great as it is. Personally, I'd be happy if they fleshed out the story on RE2 more, adding new areas and a creature or 2, make Lickers more formidable, change enemy locations, as well as the big graphics update. But that's me.

Of course, I think we can all agree with that. That's what made the first REmake so unique; the crimson heads, the new areas and the added plot with Lisa Trevor. Capcom had managed to surprise fans

Which I agree, but must admit I have a ton of love for Resident Evil 4 as well, easily my third favorite game in the series. Remake 2 may take it's place one day but that's a tbc. Resident Evil 4 is a Masterpiece in its own right.
