Is Gears of War the most underrated series of all time?

It does not seem to get enough praise outside of the reviewers. Everyone seems to talk about Halo instead.

Unless your talking about Gears of War 1,2,3 which was last-gen, it get's lots of praises but the latest one however isn't all that good or nothing mind-blowing other then the storms effects, Gears of War has lost it's finest touch.

I'm sorry but MS really needs to understand that Halo & Gears of War had there fun and glory from the Xbox 360 but nowadays, they aren't nothing to brag about.

@godlygamer: If we talking world-wide the first two got more hype than I recall any game early in 360s life-cycle. Other than Halo 3, it is what sold the console. Gears took over anything 'hype-wise' that was released on the PS3 in that time. I recall being in Canada (work-trip) buying Little Big Planet, while a massive line waited for Gears2. Needless to say they had no copies of Gears2 but a ton of LBP.

Now if you ment the last three games? Still a "no"; but they never reached the hype-levels of the first two games. And that's because they got a bit generic and didn't take it too the next level. You could say the last three played it safe to please fans.

Gears is a series that had its time in the sun, and though its past. At least kept its dignity. It didn't pull a Ninja Gaiden 3 or LBP3 and damage the series to ruin.

agreed. i put it down to bungie and epic no longer making the games. halo 3 and reach shit all over halo 4 from a great height. i borrowed an xbox one to play gears 4 and it was so generic. not a patch on the original trilogy. i enjoyed judgement much more than i did gow4

Gears of War and Dead Rising is what drew me to the Xbox 360 from Playstation and was a fantastic introduction to the next generation.

I haven't played it myself, but after playing Vanquish I always felt other cover TPS games needed to step it up, or get lost_

The first 3 got a lot of attention and were pretty well received I think... Gears 4 on the other hand, that is probably a little underrated. Has a cool campaign.

Meanwhile you have literal games that are underrated like the yakuza series (Underrated in west only), Gravity Rush, Folklore, Puppeteer, Playstation Allstars, Valiant Hearts, The Evil Within, World of Final Fantasy, The King of Fighters XIV, Alienation, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Hitman, Tabletop Simulator, D4, Tides of Numenera, Divinity: Original Sin, Alien: Isolation, The Wonderful 101, Driveclub, Metro, Tokyo Jungle, Okami, almost all Platinum Games games, Ni no Kuni, El Shaddai, Bulletstorm, Binary Domain, Suda 51 and Swery65 games, Warhammer: Vermintide, Shadow Warrior 1 and 2 reboot, TowerFall Ascension, Dead Nation, etc etc, heck even FFXV is underrated.

Gears of War? Lol, that's like asking if Uncharted or Overwatch are underrated.

Gears is literally the second most well known series for microsoft after halo. People are just getting tired of it now.

No, one of the best selling and highest rated titles on Xbox is not underrated. Also, nobody talks about Halo like it's 2007 anymore.
