With the 3 consoles now out for a while now, I still haven't seen a cell shading game out there. I probably missed one or two but in general, cell shading has died down. Several years ago, cell shading was just popular and I was tired of seeing cartoonish games.

When I saw the new graphics capabilities of the PS3, Xbox 360, and the PC, I thought, is anime quality cell shading upon us? I was excited. Now I am disappointed. Almost all developers are going for the realistic look now and no one is trying to make a sick looking cell shading game.

Can this generation of consoles make cell shading games look as good as anime or will we have to wait for PS4, Xbox 720?

Look no further than Eternal Sonata for the 360 then.

Personally, I think cell-shading is perfect for JRPGs, because I like my fantasy games to look... well, like a cartoon (fantasy!).

Eternal Sonata isn't quite as good looking as anime, but it's pretty darn good looking...

Once the developers realizethatnot every game in this generation has to be a First Person Shooter, Racing game, orSports game, then we should see some more cell shaded titles.

I really like Cel Shading, but it was overdone, so i'm glad they're taking a break from it.

There are still quite a few games that utilize cell shading coming out. Just look at The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and the next Dragon Quest game as further examples to add to the games already mentioned.

Yea it has died down quite a bit. It is just that the demand now is leaning more towards realistic graphics now a days.

I wish there were more cell shaded games coming out. I love the look of it. Having been a gamer for almost 30 years, I've grown very accustomed to cartoon-ish graphics. Most of the realistic games coming out just look dull and boring. If I want to see photo-realism, I'll just go outside.
