I try to adjust the brightness settings by pressing L and up and down on the volume switch, but there isn't a significant difference when I do it.  Is this normal?

I mean the brightness is adjustable, but it doesn't change much when I adjust it.

I dunno much about this stuff, but I'm hoping that my game boy micro is not a knockoff. The brightness level is not that unnoticeable.

**** leave all the questions to ONE Gameboy Micro thread. Jesus christ, Gamespot's forums are **** enough already, with only posting like 10 threads at a time on a page.

Anyways where did you get it? The brightness change is significant in genuine Nintendo Gameboy Micro units, and is adjustable by holding the L button while pressing up or down on the volume control rocker button.

The volume adjust thing on my micro is kind of hard to adjust.  Is that normal?

I returned the game boy micro because the sound adjust switch wasn't as responsive, and felt weird.  But I might get another one.  Another question I have is for those who have one: Do games like super mario bros 3 play well on it?  The screen is so small...

I see. I plan to buy an sp to see the difference, and if I don't like it, I'll think about getting a micro.

The sound button IS kinda screwy. You have top press down on it a bunch to notice the volume go down if it's at max, and vice versa. I still prefer the Micro over all 3 SP's I've owned over the years.

You mean the switch is kinda sunken in deep, so that you have to press extra hard down on it?
