@Jacanuk: I totally agree. Hell, Give us some good 3rd Person Shooters or something a bit different! Even the way Rainbow 6 would turn third person in cover would be refreshing!

Re-Boot Syphon Filter....well at least Metal Gear hasn't gone FPS....yet.

The first one was really not all that good. I mean, I guess it was serviceable, but it was basically generic as all hell. I'm surprised it's getting a sequel.

@turtlethetaffer: The first one looked like it had the graphics of an original XBOX game.

@High-Res: Putting graphics completely aside, it was basically CoD set in a Red Dawn timeline.

I just want to know what they mean by "open world". There aren't many FPS that are truly open world, at least what I consider to be open world. You have games like Crysis that have open levels, but are ultimately linear games because you can't return to previous areas. But it looks like more effort is going to be put into this one, so I'll definitely give it a shot. The first one wasn't bad, but it left a lot to be desired.

Yah, If I remember correctly the front of the game (or back) said "From the Writer of RED DAWN"

This could be pretty cool, I want to see gameplay footage but if the game is done well (i.e. its cinematic, looks good and controls well, has interesting characters or story, or is open city to play in and similar good controls and interesting characters/story plot) then it would be interesting. Hoping for the best but you never know, Crytek have been a bit hit and miss I feel recently.

I look forward to an open world game set in Philadelphia ( i think everyone is waiting for their city to be called when it comes to open world treatment :)).

But you can't compare this to the original Homefront. That studio is closed and Crytek simply bought the rights to the name from THQ when they went under. It's a new start. But it's fair to compare to Crytek's other offerings, which I think are best thought of as tech demos. But if they can pull off something like a modern day Saboteur, that'd be pretty cool.

You are definitely exaggerating.

And if you don't think you are then show me an original XBOX game that looked as good as these screenshots from Homefront.

Don't know why everyone was surprised that this is getting made. When Crytek picked up the game from THQ they immediately said afterward that a sequel was very likely.

Glad this is finally coming out. The first one had potential but didn't live up to it, hopefully this one will.

Allow me.

This and this

Close enough, considering the 1/9 hardware gap

By now, the first game is probably dead cheap. I would suggest getting it for the single player. It's not anything special or the best FPS campaign, but it's fun to play and a great time killer.

Those visuals are not even close.

My image.

Your image.....

Another image from the game.

You must have not played Chronicles of Riddick on the Xbox.

The second link of yours doesn't even work.

Homefront is more in the range of the Call of Duty series with the exception of Ghosts.

@RyviusARC: Second link works fine. It's Doom 3 on Xbox by the way. I played both of them and while what the other guy said is clearly exaggerated, if you consider that the original Xbox had 64MB of ram and a 233MHz GPU, it's quite impressive what it could do, especially considering both of those games feature dynamic lighting.

Not to mension the Homefront screens you posted are either the PC version or promotional bullshots. I own Homefront on both 360 and PS3 and it doesn't look nearly as good on either.

Not that graphics matters, but still: the original Xbox could work magic.

Well the argument was not what the Xbox could do with its restrictions on hardware.

It was on him saying Homefront looked like an original Xbox game.

And Doom 3 on the Xbox looks much worse than Homefront so what he said was obviously a lie.

The screenshots I posted of Homefront are the PC version but it still proves my point.

Sure but it was obviously a hyperbolic statement. The gist was that homefront doesn't look too great, which is undeniable. Still a fun game for me, i played it a lot and i will get 2.
