Help. Advice. Female novice gamer

Hi.

So we have just bought an xbox. Hubby is well away playing Fifa. However I want an easy game. Years ago I used to like racing games like Grand Turismo Prologue and need for speed.

So yesterday I bought Horizon 3. Well ive played on it for 2 hours and feel like smashing the controller to bits! ITS JUST TOO HARD!! I have it in easy mode. I skid all over because the steering stick is far too touchy!

I was sooooo excited to get this but because of its realism it just has made it so difficult for me.

Apart from if they made a disney princess driving game (mind you that might even be too difficult for me!!) What advice do you have? A different game? Different settings? Or smash hubby over the head with the controller because if he thinks im having a £220 console sat here that only he can play and I cant so he can spend hours on it and i will be bored to death then he has another thing coming!!!!! It will be sold before then!

@danielchitts: Hi there Danielle, and welcome aboard. Shame you found Forza too difficult, as its an incredible racing experience. If you like a more simple racing game, maybe give trackmania a run? There's that competitive edge to beat peoples times, but if you want to just do crazy jumps and loops and have fun its perfect for that. Other than that, I personally cant think of many other titles. Is there any other genre of video game you like?

Not sure about the Xbone version, but previous games in the DIRT series (DIRT Rally is the latest) let you customize the level of realism down to a simple arcade mode. Maybe you could go with that.

Is prologue available on xbox?

I like roleplaying games as well but again they have to be EASY! Notice a pattern here, i enjoy games but im rubbish at them hehe.

So if you can recommend any easy role playinf games that would be good too.

Gran Tourismo Prologue is published by Sony so no.

However, Forza Motorsport 6 is published by Microsoft. If you found GT to be easy chances are pretty good you will find Forza easy as well (I find it a bit easier). It is actually more realistic than Forza Horizon, but the tracks are more predictable and probably slower. I know in Horizon you can be doing some mad fast turns. Also, Forza Motorsport runs at double the frame rate, so it is easier to see things and more responsive.

As far as easy role playing games? Hmm...well Fable 2 works through backwards compatibility I think... (don't buy fable 3 it is crap)

Of course, none of this would be an issue if you had a WiiU! ^_^

I haven't played any Forza except Apex on PC, but often racers have handicaps and assists that you can turn on to reduce difficulty. Have you played with the advanced settings to help with the difficulty? Looking for settings like opponent difficulty, traction control, anti-lock brakes, steering assist, no tire wear, etc might be all you need to make the game manageable!

Try Dark Souls 3. Much easier and funner.

Forget about these casual sports games.

What you need is Fallout 4.

Dead Rising 4's really easy. Only died once. Only problem is you'd be playing a very BAD game.

@JustPlainLucas: I think hubby likes that. So might be one to consider. I was looking on the xbox store. What is deadpool like? And Two brothers like?

Don't know what Two Brothers is. But Deadpool is an average monotonous hack and slash with some gunplay elements that only became a likable game because it is the world's best use of the Deadpool source material.

I just want to say thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread. I played Forza horizon 3 some more and got the hang of it. Dont get me wrong im not amazing but I do actually enjoy it now. In a race I use the Y Button a lot to rewind if a make a mistake hehe.

Im still going to look at the above games people have mentioned above on payday as we only have 2 at the moment.

@danielchitts: So you wanna play racing games then branch out to other games i assume?> Look like anything in life it takes practice just keep trying it will come.

@jwsoul: I just like a variety of games.

For a new gamer I say find cheap games that are from different types. You never know what type of games that you will like.

Maybe try downloading a relatively cheap indie game. Theres some fun old school platformers and get to grips with that before moving into the AAA gaming market. I say that because a lot of AAA games these days just aren't pick up and play the way you want them to be.

btw, forget Forza Horizon, it just wasn't that good and the cars handle badly because of bad programming. Buy any of the main series of Forza games. I think Forza 5 was the last one and it is a superb driving game.

Dragon age Inquisition is a good game.
