I've been trying for the last two days to find some decent "take over/control the city" type games (think The Godfather The Game or Assassins Creed II (prefer the more hostile take overs instead of buying the city)). Problem is they don't seem to have a specific genre tag to search by. Anyone know of any games like this? Looking for anything made within the last 10 years.

Maybe the InFamous games? You can be a pretty big prick when you play as a bad guy.

Any of the Saints Row games. (SR IV is really good for that and cheap now)

I too like games such as that and I am struggling to find something new to play recently. Here are a list of games that I own, that I believe you will like (based on your games mentioned here). Let me know if this was any help?

  • Scarface (PS2)
  • Dead Rising 2, DR2: Off the Record, DR2: Case Zero
  • Prototype 1 & 2
  • TES V: Skyrim
  • Darksiders 1 & 2
  • Sleeping Dogs
  • Assassin Creed IV: Black Flag (Really great fun)
  • Any GTA game
  • Mafia 2 (I never played the 1st one)
  • Fable (any of them, but Fable III lets you be king)

These are just some of my personal recommendations, not all of which have you gaining ultimate control of the city but do have those progression elements to them.

Ok so ive played fable one and it doesn't have quite what im looking for. So im talking more like Far cry 3 for example. there are enemy camps all over the place, you don't have (but who doesn't want to right :p)to go in there and kill the but if you do it makes the area safer. So not really like story line progression unlocking and giving the city to me, more like i can take the city over when i don't feel like playing story line (godfather was the best game ive played like that). hope this helps clarify what i'm looking for. Appreciate the help :)
