There's websites that say you can clean them with toothpaste. Has anyone here ever tried this? What were the results?

I have tried it with poor results.

I am pretty sure that this will work for fine scratches, but I was trying to remove much deeper damage than what this will really allow for.

Just be careful as some toothpaste is VERY abrasive asnd may cause more damage in the long run.

Good thing is, your discs will smell great !

I've heard that it does work, but I've never personally tried it. One of my friends uses car wax to get out the scratches.

I've done it, usually with success. But I really only recommend it as a last resort because once you see the disc post-toothpaste, you'll know there's probably no way to ever restore it any other way. But if you've tried every other way humanly possible, it does work.

I highly recommend not using toothpaste for games as there are better ways of cleaning a game disc.

I've used it several times with decent results. However, I only did it because I didn't have any other scratch removers at the time, so I'd suggest using something better.

I would guess that many people, at this point, would ask what those ways are.

Actually, they were quite good in my case. I had on old disc of NFS4 that just wouldn't work, because it was too scratched. I figured I might as well try it since I had nothing to lose. After my toothpaste treatment the CD worked perfectly.

I take care of my stuff so non of my items need nothing more then maybe a wipe for a finger smudge. But if I did run into a scratched disc im actually lucky enough to work at a library that has a $2300 disc buffer which dominates every scratch ive seen so far.

Just take it to your local gamestation (assuming you live in the UK), they nearly all have a disc cleaning machine in them. When i worked there, it cost like 99p to get a disc cleaned and 9/10 times it looked good as new and worked fine :)

usually works, just need the right kind oftoothpaste...

works for smaller-medium scratches, big ones are a lost cause... and remember to use some very fine cloth to clean it with.

I have. It did work, but it didn't hold up forever. 2 months later I was having problems again. Use it as a last resort.
