Anyone have any stories about feeling uncomfortable while playing violent games in front of you mom or dad? I just got No More Heroes for the Wii and a friend let me borrow Resident Evil: UC, which I've been playing with the Perfect Shot accessory. I'm 19 years old, but I don't see these conversations stopping anytime soon...anyone got any funny stories?

My mom never had a problem with video game violence. Back when Mortal Kombat came out she used to get a kick out of Sonya Blade's fatality.

I don't really know why, mine just don't seem to care. They let my 7 year old bro play GTA San Andreas whenever he wants and most other violent games too, including Mortal Kombat. I think that's good =)

Not with violence but with sexual content and language yes. I was once playing a game with my mom called Still Life I think and they dropped the f-bomb like every 2 seconds. My dad was also sitting in the room and that didnt make it any better.

This is a conversation that took place between my mom and I after she saw me playing the Bioshock demo.

Mom: What the hell is that!?!

Me: Bioshock.

Mom: He's shooting up! That's real nice, Kristopher!

Me: That's how he gets his energy! (bad choice of words lol)

Mom: Oh yeah, I bet it is!

So that's why I don't play M-rated games in front of her now.

By the way if your parents don't care about Violent Games then, show them the 'Strogg Medical Facilities' level in 'Quake 4'

Don't take me wrong because I'm a big fan of All Quake Games:D:D:D:D

LOL! It kind of reminds me in those situations when a person walks in the wrong time. If your parents know Spanish, they'd probably notice all the cursing the Ganados do in RE4.

Me and my brother playing Halo:

Halo Theme: oh...ah ah (you know the humming part)

Mom: What happened!? Did the Pope die?

BRother: No, it's just the game!

Yes, twice, both of them a long time ago. The first time I was playing the mortal kombat 1 at the arcade, my father came there to drag me home and was shocked by the pit fatality with the severed heads on the blades. The second time the game was Tenchu and one of its stealth kills.

Since then, whenever I'm playing a violent game and someone that may be offended is near, I hit the pause button.

(yeah, you can't pause at the arcades, but arcades are dead anyway)

No, my parents have always been quite cool about the whole thing. I've been playing violent games for as long as they were available. :D My sister still technically isn't old enough for GTA, but she's been playing since 3 and incredibly enough she's still an A student at school. On this issue, my parents have adopted the best approach, teach your children correctly and give them the trust to make their own choices, and there will be no problems with in game content, because they know it's not real.

i was playing God of War, and was at the part where you have to sacrifice a prisoner in a cage to open the way forward, when my mom walked in the room.

she asked: "are you saving that guy?"

me: "well, no, not exactly..."

My mum wasn't too happy with GTA but that might have been because I'd got my Dad to play it at the time, Seriously he can't be bothered to do anything but punch prostitutes and have a laughing fit...

Weird really but keeps him amused I guess...

Since my favorite games have always been Zelda and Mario games, no. When I was a kid, my mom helped me beat the first Legend of Zelda... She found it fascinating, what with the map and all.....

Back when I was still living with my parents, my father would always comment on a game by saying "they are all the same, how come you're not tired of them already?". Then he got hooked on Pro Pinball Simulator.

My mom is fine with it. Back when God of War came out she was in the room while i was playing and even made a comment about how the women in the game wore see-through clothes but was about it and she just went on her merry way.

My dad however was not so open about some games. I remember playing Dead to Rights and was at the one mini-game where you had to distract the guards with the stripper. I was going on playing the gmae, failed the mini-game like 3 or 4 times and still keep on trying and my dad was like "what are you playing?" and I was like "a video game" and he was not too happy cause if anyone remembers the stipper makes some not so appropriate noises the more you succedd. So I was like well Im trying to distract the guard with the stripper. Lets just say he did not like that answer.

Although Im not quite sure how my mom would have reacted to the stripper mini-game but i dont think ti would have been so bad.

This may be me, but whenever one of my parents comes and watches the game I play, I do the most violent thing I can do in the game. Sorta to impress them, even though I know it freaks them out playing games like that. As long as it's not overtly detailed violence, then they're ok with it.
