An interesting, yet unanswerable question.
Â
My personal favorite game of all time was Final Fantasy 8, and I think that the ps2 was the best console ever. But if I had to pick a best I would say Super Mario 64
dreamcast/n64 were two of the best systems but didnt do exceedingly well
Â
the person to introduce the new technology always seem to fail firstÂ
Greatest in what context?
Most influential? Pong, Space Wars, Space Invaders, Doom, Half-Life, Street Fighter 2
Best narrative/story? Fallout, Final Fantasy VII, Baldurs Gate
Personal Fave? Fallout
IMO best console was the SNES.
Theres no real answer to this question though, it's all personal opinion. For example, while many people consider 8 to be one of the best games of all time, and the best final fantasy, i personally wouldnt even bother putting it in the bargain bin.
The only game i can think of that actually managed to mold several different genres into one was Deus ex. So, Deus ex get's my vote. (Altough my personal favourite is Baldur's gate II)
PC, or if i can't say PC (even though we all KNOW it blows everything else out of the water ((Stop looking at me like that :P))
I'd say the DC for games, or the NES.
**Cheggit out!, 700 posts! :)**
In my mind, SNES was greatest console system ever.
Because back then, games weren't crazy expensive to develop, so many game developers ventured more into their ideas.
Now we have the system power to achieve greater ideas, but due to budget the developers are too scared to explore new areas.
Anyway, as for greatest game ever for me is probably either Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy VII. Â
