So, I’d like to immerse myself into some good 3D platformers. From any console.

After finishing up the Kingdom Hearts games in preparation for the third one, I feel burnt out and want something that’ll refresh me I guess.

As for the ones I’ve played or am thinking of playing:

Klonoa/Klonoa 2 (Thinking)

Mario Oddessy (Played, loved it.)

Super Mario 64 (Thinking, I know it’s a must.)

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger (Played)

Sly Raccoon Games (Played, loved it.)

Jak & Daxter games (Played)

Ratchet and Clank games (Played)

A Hat in Time ( Played and loved it. Looking forward to the DLC.)

Spyro Games (Played. Currently waiting for the reignited trilogy.)

Psychonaughts (Played, loved it.)

Tomba/Tomba 2 (Thinking)

There’s probably more but that’s all I can think of right now.

Thanks in advance!

Klonoa are not 3D Platformers; 2.5D /aka/ Platformers within a 2D space that use 3D character models and panned camera work to show sections from multiple angles. If you're familiar with Nintendos offerings you'll know of games like Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and the New Super Mario Bros series.

If you have either a Vita or PS4? Would recommend Tearaway

It's criminally overlooked despite being an amazing 3D Platformer

I’ve mentioned it before on these forums but Rayman 2: The Great Escape looks excellent.

I watch over an hour of gameplay the other week.

Best on Dreamcast but available on pc.

@jackamomo: I used to play the Rayman games all the time as a kid. I think 3 is my favourite which everyone hates? Lol

@speeny: So did you play 2? What did you think? I was thinking of buying it.

@jackamomo: From what I remember it is very good. Definitely a classic and probably still the best game in the Rayman series.

@speeny: So you think 2 is objectively better than 3 but you prefer 3?

EDIT: Oh yeah, another one I thought looked good was Ecco on Dreamcast. I never got past the first stage when I tried to play it once but lost the cd. It looks quite good after you get past the beginning.

@jackamomo: Yep. 3 has better art style. From memory...graphically, it was a big step up from 2. I also preferred the level designs in 3. But most people will play 2 rather than 3. That's just me though. :)

@RSM-HQ: Alright I will check it out. Looks good so far. Not a huge fan of modern 3D platformers but will give it a go!

I am deciding whether to play Yooka Laylee. It doesn't seem like it'd be my type of thing. But if you've played it, feel free to give me your thoughts.

@speeny: The thing with Tearaway is it's from the makers of Little Big Planet (Media Molecule) so it has some fun and interesting systems in its mechanics usually making silly things along your playthrough

It's not an overly simplistic but frustratingly hard 3D Platformer like Banjo Kazooie, it does a good job keeping the pace interesting and varies from beginning-to-end.

However if you don't think you'll like it, best not dood. Not a fan of recommending games people insist they wouldn't enjoy.

TY the Tasmanian Tiger trilogy old ps2/gamecube games. The remastered versions are already out on pc. if you only play on console the developer Krome Studios implied once TY the Tasmanian Tiger 3 leaves Early Access they're interested in porting trilogy to console but this wouldn't be for awhile.

@locus-solus: That’s one I forgot I have played. I really liked 1. Still yet to play 2 and 3.
