I'm in a kind of book slump. I keep getting books based off of games. They aren't all bad, but I keep looking for something better. Can anyone recommend a book series that is good? (i've already read the Halo series)

The Mass Effect books are good. Also, the Gears of War books are surprisingly quite good as well; there is so much lore and backstory in the Gears of War games that's never really explained in the game, and you get a lot of it in the two novel.s

Star Wars: Republic Commando is a great series. It's heavily into the Star Wars mythology, though, so be prepared. They have great ethical challenges in them to consider. And there is a lot about the Mandalorian culture.

Thanks guys. I've already tried the Warcraft series and it was a bit boring. I just got a copy of Gears and you guys were right, it is really good. A friend of mine read the Splinter cell series, and said it was good. But I have one question to ask, does it follow the story?

Not really. It's kind of on its own thing.

If you're into nonfiction, I suggest the following:

Game Over: A book that covers Nintendo's history from the beginning. The book is about 10 years old now, but it's still a good read because you learn about Nintendo's design philosophies, which still holds true today.

The Ultimate History of Video Games: This book might be more appealing since it covers everything about the industry, and even covers the times before there were videogames, where certain games were outlawed.

If you want something easy to get into Tom Clancy's novels (yes he made books before Splinter Cell:P) are pretty action packed.

The only game book I ever read was Resident Evil: City of the Dead. It was a novelization of RE2. It wasn't mind blowing, but it still managed to be entertaining.

If you're interested in something a bit more esoteric, try finding a copy of Lucky Wander Boy. It's not based on any individual game series. It's a story about a guy who becomes obsessed with making a sort of encyclopedia about classic video games and with his desire to find a working copy of his favorite childhood arcade game, Lucky Wander Boy.

Enemy Within (Hitman) by William C. Dietz is a pretty good book, if you like Hitman that is. Comics and graphic novels are good with games too thinking MGS
