Why is Gamespot's ranking system now based on a .5 rating. It seems it has been this way for at least the past few months. I dont think this is a good idea and i wish they would rate games with the old scale.

The old system was pretty broken too.

The new scale is perfectly fine.

My personal theory is to counter all the stuff that Jeff got when he reviewed Zelda. You know, the whole 8.8 debacle.

But hey, it still doesn't change the fact that GS are known to be harsh markers on some of the more anticipated games of the year. A good thing, and a bad thing...

Ask yourself this question though: Have you ever NOT bought a game because GS gave it a poor rating?

I know I haven't. Despite what GS think my view could be very different, I mean Gs rated Hybrid Heaven on the N64 quite poorly but I absolutely loved that game, so the rating system doesn't make all that much difference to me :D

I think they changed the rating system so that it would be easier for them to do reviews. More standard I assume.

This topic has already been discussed to death. There's no real need to bring it back up again.
