Recently I delved into Hotline Miami, a game that I thought I'd despise for a long time, but after getting into it I quickly realised how fantastic it is.

What games did you judge before you gave it a shot but now love?

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, I thought the game was going to suck mainly because it's a another rehashed Call of Duty game but I was dead wrong, I really enjoy the Campaign most and Kevin Spacey in it made me like it the game more so then I thought.

I didn't think I would enjoy Dark Souls III as much as I did. In fact I was very worried about it early on and made a dedicated thread on my personal concerns, coming so soon after Bloodborne.

Needless to say a hands-on removed any worry I had. Dark Souls III using the same engine as Bloodborne really took the series in a direction that only made it a more enjoyable game.

Easily (for me) the best Action RPG I've played since Monster Hunter 4G! So tightly tuned with a ton of well-balanced variation.

The Ringed City got me to drop continuing my playtime with Nioh and Nier: Automata. That's how good it is :)

@RSM-HQ: Bloodborne was a game that I really disliked, but it was my first delve into that style of gaming so I might need to revisit it!

FROM RPGs are certainly a different breed, the only series I think has similar flow and mechanics actually is; Monster Hunter.

With that stated. Things about Bloodborne really get under my skin as well, more than it should have.

Such as the Bell-System, poorly balanced weapons/ stats, and the games pacing overall. Still enjoyed the fresh take From Software took, certainly think it could be ironed out with a possible sequel down the road. Old Hunters DLC already showed the game in a better light.

But DkSIII feels like it's a game that finally came full circle. And that's why I enjoy it the most amongst the series.

Binary Domain. It was a surprise birthday gift. I went in with low expectations and by time the credits rolled, I was in love with the game. A definite surprise!

Overwatch. I tend to enjoy games with long, single player campaigns. See the problem?

Still, jumped on with a friend one day, and I was hooked.

Yeah that was a very fun game, I don't think many people were aware of it. Had a very nice action movie feel to it.

@mrbojangles25: It really did. I think a lot of people passed on it because of mixed reviews. I know I was one of those people sadly. Glad my friend purchased it for me as a gift.

Red Dead Redemption. I thought I would hate it because I don't like Grand Theft Auto games. There is just something about riding on a horse in the old west that really is appealing to me.

Nier automata

I thought it was gonna be some lame, nerdy, weeb game. Oh man I was wrong. I played the demo and fell in love.

Bloodborne too, never played a souls game before that, so I didn't know what to expect.

yeah, i didn't think I would hate the game (or i wouldn't have bought it), but I was definitely surprised how much I enjoyed it. It's a good game....that probably a handful of people played. I loved the way the robot armor shredded under hails of gunfire and the characters were surprisingly interesting with moral choices you don't typically find in an action game.

Persona 4 - It took me years to play this game because I kept getting a very weeboo feel from it. Played it, and I loved it.

Call of Juarez : Gunslinger- this game was irritating to me because I thought the story was getting nowhere and it kept reminding me of the movie Chopper so I thought the story would be predictable. But when it got to the end, my jaw dropped. Damn, even now when I think about it, that game's story is chilling and that twist came outta nowhere.

Dark Souls - I played this game on PC with a mouse and keyboard with a framerate that kept jumping from 30 to 19 FPS at odd times. It was hard to get the controls under my grasp (especially the mouse controls) because From Software suck at coding. Praise to the sun for that mouse fix. Liked the beginning areas of the game but as I progressed, the game design went from good to 'wtf cheap' really quickly. Hiding bonfires behind illusory walls, I mean who the hell thought that was a good idea? But somehow, after 41 hours and the end of my first playthrough, this game did something very strange to me. It made me like it despite the shitty level design and really obtuse mechanics. I swear, if I had never used a guide, I never would have made it to the Four Kings. How the hell was I supposed to know that I needed to wear a special ring and jump into an abyss?

DmC : Devil May Cry - I thought it'd be a shit game because of the whole Donte fiasco but by the time the first level started and the music kicked in, I fell in love with it. I really liked the Western take to DmC.

Binary Domain - This video will explain everything...

Clive Barker's Jericho. The beginning of the game was pretty bland but it gets much more interesting very quickly. I loved the character swapping, monster design and the story.

King Kong and Small Soldiers as movie tie-in games gave a bad impression from the outset, but were both surprisingly good. King Kong in particular stuck me as a pretty unique FPS.

Predator: Concrete Jungle got poor reviews so I went in expecting a disaster; turns out it was my favorite Predator game to date, even more so than AVP2 (the predator part, at least). I could be remembering it more fondly than I should, though.

Story About My Uncle looked pretty uninteresting from the start yet I really liked its simple first person platforming gameplay. The ending is pretty lame though.

It's Onmyoji, the mobile game developed by Netease. I thought I would quit it in several minutes but after several months, I'm still playing it now.

Yeah, I loved the robots having pieces getting shot off. Hell, you could shoot off their legs and they would keep coming for you. That was pretty cool and unexpected.

BF1 I guess? After playing the beta I was feeling extremely negative about it, but eventually bought it and had a good time with it. Not sure I'd say I love it though.

can't think of many examples to be honest, If I really think I'll hate a game, I probably wont play it.

monster hunter. i should hate monster hunter. i hate grinding. i hate time limits. yet i love monster hunter. on the surface the rules of the game appear to be stupid but it all makes sense once you start playing (well ok a little while after you start playing).

Only thing I can think of is Rayman Origins.

I hated the demo for some reason but then it was available with GwG and gave it another shot and really enjoyed it.

Rocket League.

Soccer with cars? What the frick? That sounds like some lame childish game.

..................but no. It's become my most played PS4 game, and by a long shot. Since it has came out, I haven't taken many breaks. It's just got this great competitiveness to it, and a mother f of a learning curve. But, you more or less are always playing with guys around your skill level. Most of the time..

Breath of the Wild: I have never been able to get into any of the 3d zelda games, I have played everyone of them and, other than wind waker, always get too bored to finish them. I also typically despise open world games. I bought my switch because I wanted blaster master zero but I figured I had to at least give the game a try and I am so glad I did. I cannot think of a game that has hooked me like this in a long time, the main quests are awesome and just wandering the world looking for shrines and other random stuff never seems to get old. The game seriously deserves all the hype it has gotten.

The Witcher 3.

Since I did not like The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, I did not think I would like this WRPG. However, I was really surprised with the pacing, attention to detail in the story for the main and side quests, and how everything had weight on your decisions later in the game. Oblivion' s story and side quests just seemed so bland in comparison, which is why I will probably never play Skyrim.

I always Avoid playing games. but now i am a big fans of games and always waiting for new upcoming game and when the game is released. i am always ready to buy them. Recently i had played FIFA17, gears of war, Madden 17, NBA2k17, and GTA 5. If i compare all the game then GTA is my favourite game now days and GTA 5 is my recently Played game. Recently i heard that Rockstar may release http://gta6grandtheftauto.com/ in 2018 but no official announcement. I love GTA game series I think you know or not but GTA5 is the fastest selling video game in his selling history and rockstar earned $800 first day and $1 million in next three days.

Alien Isolation was one that I thought, because of all the negative reviews, would be mediocre at best. However, after picking it up out of the used bin I have no regrets. It was one of the best horror games I've ever played and would recommend it to anyone. A truly underrated game.

Rocket League, Yakuza series, TowerFall Ascension, Tabletop Simulator, Shadowrun (the reboot, I started with dragonfall), The Banner Saga (I secretly hated Oregon Trail, Strike Suit Zero (was more I tried it, was eh, then tried it later and liked it), Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Dragon Age- Origins, Binary Domain, the most recent Sherlock Holmes trilogy, the MGS series, and a lot more.

@putaspongeon:

Yup, someone should put that out there as a warning for anyone who wants to try out Persona 4. Play it and your wang will fall off your body! Now I'm in love with the girliest anime like Hyperdimension Neptunia and I do nothing but play dress up and dating sims all day long cuz I ain't got no dick anymore. It's the best! Now I see that I never really needed it in the first place! It's so much easier to wear women's panties this way!
