Games with slower gameplay/minimal button and joystick pressing?

Due to a repetitive strain injury I'm looking for some games that are not demanding on the hands, probably stuff with more emphasis on strategy but still has a decent fun factor? Even a majorly story based thing with a few button presses... basically the less inputs for the maximal gameplay output. Maybe there's some cool table-top inspired games like an updated version of Risk or something along those lines?

I haven't played any games in years other than Slay the Spire which eventually turned into too many button presses once you get decent at it.

Thank you for any suggestions!

What platform @frostwinds

I recommend switching to PC if possible. Mouse and keyboard is a lot more ergonomic and easier to interface with than a controller.

Hell, many games on PC merely require a mouse, which contours to your neutral hand position and requires clicks that travel like 1 mm

My hands cramp up after a couple hours on a controller. They never have on PC.

Was going to suggest the same thing.

Turn-based are great; take all the time you need on those turns. Yet still exciting at times.

@mrbojangles25:

Unfortunately a big part of the injury was from the computer and not paying attention to ergonomics... so I will use a controller(360 controller for now).

Didn’t actually know Civ was turn-based always thought it was an RTS. I’ll look into XCOM thanks to both for the suggestion!

Also I can’t do DDR because of a hip/back injury I just got recently..(yes I am a mess physically haha).

Do you mind if I ask what exactly you were doing wrong in terms of ergonomics?

I game on the PC a lot myself and would like to prevent any potential injuries.

Gaming on a laptop(counter strike) on a kitchen table, so my wrists were bent at an upwards angle which is pretty much the worst thing you can do.
