For me it is Blizzard. While I Love Starcraft 2 the company is a mess since Activision got them. Diable 3 has the DRM problems and was not very good compared to Torchlight 2 and WoW lost innovation and meh. Blizzard is alright and I still somewhat like them but ever since Activision they are different

Another one is Jagex. This company I loved during the glory days of Runescape 2003-2007 then they went down and is now a microtransaction company and I can not stand them anymore.

What company you loved went down the tubes?

I cry every time id software or Epic announce a new game. Two companies that used to put out only gold, and now only make boring, boring, boring games.

Eh, Square still has the chance to crank out some good games even in their current form. Rare, however, is pretty much destined to make Kinect garbage for the rest of its days.

Have to go with Square Enix, they went from one of the best to one of the worst. SE is alright as a publisher but as a developer they are pretty bad.

I think that I would have to go with Konami. During the NES and SNES eras they were pretty much firing on all cylinders both on the consoles and in the arcades cranking out many great games such as Contra III, Super Castlevania IV, Sparkster, Lethal Enforcers, Gradius III, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Castlevania III, Devastators, etc. They didn't handle the 3D transition very well but did manage to still bring out some good stuff like the Suikoden games, Zone of the Enders games, Symphony of the Night, Shattered Soldier, and Gradius V. I do like what they done with the Castlevania franchise though with the recent Lords of Shadow games. Other then that the only other games that I love from them are the Metal Gear Solid games. Back in the day both Capcom and Konami were tied for my favourite gaming companies, Capcom carried on through the subsequent generations very nicely while Konami not so much.

Blizzard is at the very top of my list.  They rode on the cash cow that was WoW for far too long before releasing another game.  Then when they finally did release a new game, they shoved as many aspects form WoW as they could.  I won't even get into the mess that was Diablo 3.

Square-Enix is another one.  Up until this generation of consoles, 90% of the games SE released were pure gold.  They just totally lost their focus and dedication to quality games (Final Fantasy XIII and XIV are a testament to this).  These days the only good games coming from them are ones other developers made.

Capcom is also a company that started out very strong at the beginning of this gen, only to totally lose it within the last few years.  The epic mishandling of the Resident Evil franchise, suspect DLC practices, vomiting out fighting game after fighting game.  If Dead Rising 3 is any indication, It's looking like their downward trend will continue next gen.

The closest that could fit that bill to me is Square-Enix, atleast its developer side. While I didn't hate FFXII or FFXIII and got some extent of enjoyment from both, I still found both titles quite disappointing in comparison to many past FF titles. They made the worst Star Ocean game I've played (Star Ocean 4). And while I was still willing to defend SE to some extent thanks despite some of their bone-headed decisions thanks to games like the Dissida games, Dragon Quest IX, and TWEWY, they then decide to milk the FFXIII. I mean, I could understand why they made the second game and all, despite not really having any desire to purchase it, but then they made a THIRD game? I mean, didn't the second game do worse than the original XIII in terms of sales. And then worst of all they make that awful game FF all the Bravest, which spit on the name of FF with its silly game design and BS micro-transactions.

While I don't think SE is the company that has had the worst fall (that'd probably go to Capcom IMO) SE's fall is the one that personally stings the most for me.

Hoping FFXV will maybe make up for some of the mishaps SE made though. It looked pretty promising to me when I saw it during last E3.

I would say Bioware. Their game play have been taken down so much. I find they been removing the role playing from the game in favor of focusing on pretending through Dialog and moral picks.

Bullfrog and Ensemble Studios. They never went downhill.. they both made amazing games but were both shut down. Ensemble (makes of the Age of Empires series) was shut down by Microsoft after being forced to make Halo Wars. So many incredible games and expansions.. sad to think we will never see a new Age of Empires game or Age of Mythology game.

Microsoft shutting down Ensemble was the best thing that could've happened. Microsoft was just chocking them. And this way we got Orcs Must Die! which is better than anything Ensemble made for a decade.

Several come to mind.

Square-Enix: they've never been the same since the merger (albeit FFXII was great).  The most brazen display of their incompetence was their participation at the PS4 reveal.  They were better to not even show up.

Crytek: their overfascination with F2P was where things started to go wrong, then they shot after Kinect, and are now more preoccupied about selling Cry Engine licenses than actually making good games (*cough* Crysis 3).

Nintendo: they still make good stuff, but they just don't care about me as a consumer anymore.  I can't live off nostalgia and revisit the same IPs system after system after system.

Capcom: where to even start?  Hopefully they grow enough balls to revive Megaman in his 2d form again and stop desecrating the RE franchise.

Rare: it's not their fault, really.  MS' influence completely gutted the studio and left it a shell of its former self.  Pouring one out for ya bruddas.

Sega: every once in a while they show flashes of their former selves, but I can't think of a single thing they do now that interests me.

I think Capcom is the worst recently because they made the monstrosity that was Resident Evil 6! I mean why change an iconic and wonderful franchise into a boring Gears Of War clone, if I wanted to play Gears Of War I'd rather play the real thing! Another developer that has went downhill is Nintendo although this is probably just because I am older now, and Nintendo make games for kids therefore I don't enjoy them as much.

Capcom - For ruining the Resident Evil franchise in a pathetic attempt to get it to appeal to casuals.

Bioware - Due to the Mass Effect 3 ending and the less than memorable Dragon Age 2.

Square Enix - Because every Final Fantasy game after 10 have been pretty awful.

Rare - Haven't produced anything I feel to be worthy of note since jumping ship to Microsoft all those years ago.

That would easily go to Nintendo.  Breaks my heart to see them in the state they are compared to what they once were.  I hope one day they can return to their former glory but fear by then the industry and gamers will have passed them by.  More than they already have, anyway.

Most of the companies have been named, so I will answer a little differently... Publisher: Working Designs They brought over and translated some of my favorite games of all time + created the best manuals and box sets...but those delays (for quality) killed them. Only game company I have ever been truly sad that they went under (other than the usual feeling bad for employees without a job) Team: Nautilus Team They created my favorite RPG series of all time (Shadow Hearts). But the team was disbanded and left without the rights to their games. Both went 'downhill'...just in a different manner than TC intended

This. Kojima is a great game designer (whose games are hurt by his love of lengthy cinemas) but he is apparently a horrible studio lead. Konami has fallen to the point where not only are they incapable of making great games without Kojima's direct involvement, but they can't tell a good game or a good developer from a bad one. They managed to screw up two HD ports in a row (Silent Hill and then ZOE) by handing them to incompetents and they were forced to outsource a Metal Gear game became the Kojima-less Metal Gear team couldn't handle it.

And their relentless attempts to milk the dessicated corpse of Silent Hill is insane because there was never much milk there to begin with. I love the old SH games, but they were niche (SH1 might have hit a million sales global and its the most popular of the SHs though not the best) and they were so ummm, I guess the best word is strange that I don't think anybody can replicate what Team Silent did. Rather than pay for five different attempts to do the impossible Konami should have told the teams (at least one of whom died after the inevitable commercial failure of the game) to make an original game that would be viewed on its own merits.

Naughty Dog. Cinematic video games or games whose selling point is on story/acting and emotional investment in characters is stupid. Games should be based on gameplay otherwise, I would rather watch a movie. Insomniac disappoints now as well.

SNK. The King of Fighters XIII is still awesome, but that's pretty much the only worthwhile thing they've done in a long time. That, and Metal Slug 7. One thing is for sure: the SNK I knew and loved would not have put their name and branding on the piece of garbage Neo Geo X Gold system that's floating around out there. SNK didn't compromise, and that system is 100% compromise. It's not real Neo Geo hardware, it's bad emulation for a ridiculously high price. I'm glad I didn't fall for it. I'll stick to my Neo Geo Pocket Color, Neo Geo CD, and beautiful Neo Geo MVS arcade machine with UNIBIOS.

Ubisoft! Back in the day, Ubisoft cared greatly about PC games. They made Rainbow Six: Raven Shield. They made Silent Hunter III. And then they went and established the Online Services Platform and started always talking the PC down. They started outright lying, making bad ports, or not making PC versions altogether. They over-annualized Assassin's Creed. I think they may be back on the upswing now given they've ditched the DRM but they still are not to be trusted with much confidence.

And of course Electronic Arts. I read the manual of SimCity 2000 and I can't believe what EA has morphed into.
