In 2011, Duke Nukem Forever was released after 14 years of development and unsurprisingly it was trashed by critics and average gamers alike. Not to mention the game have countless of production-related problems long before its launch.
Now back to 2017 where Final Fantasy XV already a year old after it was and it still far from finished. Tons of "updates" and "patches" need to be downloaded and most recently, charging at least 25 dollars for an online feature for a 60 dollars game. Yes, you read it right. You need to buy a 25$ season pass for a 60$ dollars game. Add 20-30 dollars more if you bought the limited or collector's edition of that game. Wanna create a female character in a game with no notable female characters to begin with? Pay Square-Enix at least 85 dollars. The last single-player content will not going to be released until early 2018 when the game itself already 18 months old.
Long before that FFXV already have tons of problems like release date for example. It was initially scheduled to be released in September 29 2016 but it turns out that also the release date for Persona 5 in Japan and so SE forced to delay the game until November 29 in the same year. This only make the fanboys angrier as they already waited for a decade. After launched they were surprised the game is far from finished. Confusing story that only explained in Kingsglaive direct-to-video movie and anime shorts, which are released later. Countless of updates and patches need to be downloaded for almost every week. SE actually afraid those of angry fans than Persona 5 but their reputation to fans already damaged beyond repair.
Not to mention the game went from turn-based into hack-and-slash to cater different audiences(read: Westerners), Huge open world that literally empty and even monsters and NPCs a few and far in between. Lacking of notable female characters in favor of "bromance" and some sort. I found this as a disappointment because FF series is about group of men and women on adventure together but considering how FFXIII failed with a central female character, I shouldn't be surprised with that either.
The "last" single-player content won't be released in early 2018 and I hope no more updates and patches will be released after that.
