I'm a little confused, It says here that "Activision has finally confirmed that Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s is in the works." But on the games page it says that RedOctane is the developer. And at the bottom it says that "Activision-owned Neversoft, has since taken over Guitar Hero development. It will presumably be making Guitar Hero III." So what is the deal with this?
Activision bought RedOctane last year. Red Octane is a publisher, like Activision. The developer of Guitar Hero 1 and 2 (and the 80's version apparently) was Harmonix. Harmonix was since bought out by EA, and now they're working on a new game called "Rock Band."  Neversoft, another developer (which is also owned by Activison) is making Guitar Hero 3 for RedOctane.

Activision bought RedOctane. RedOctane published the Guitar Hero Series
MTV a subsitiary of Viacom bought Harmonix.  Harmonix developed the Guitar Hero Series.
Activision owns Neversoft so Neversoft will be developing GHII
Harmonix and MTV are developing and EA is publishing "Rock Band"
