Do you think the PS2 has a chance to beat the Atari 2600's longetivity record?

The PS2 is almost 13 years old now and still selling only slightly below average, but in the thousands. Do you think the Ps2 will make it to 15(16?) years and beat the 2600 as the longest living console of all time?

well... even though I think it's an overrated console, I'm glad it lived so long, it had great games and it's a very affordable piece of tech

Well I can't speak for everyone but it will for me. All the games I want to play for it, 2 years isn't enough.

Can't believe it is so old already, after buying it on day 1...

It prolly will do, but they should make their next console still able to play these games (I know it's not planned to do this)

I have a feeling Sony will discontinue the PS2 when the PS4 is released, its really what they did with the PS1 (which most people are unware, but the PS1 was actually still around in 2006)

Them games though. The most games of any system with the largest amount of replay value. 1977 to 1992 if I recall. 2nd closest to that may have been there PC's with 78-- coming in 3rd.

Also Atari has the longest lasting consoles and PC. Atari 8 bit line is 14, Atari St is around 7.5, and 2600 is 16.

nice!, though personally, I only liked their 8 bit computers, the ST line was cheaper but it had a small library when compared to IBMs or Amigas

I just made another very funny discovery. The Atari Lynx lasted longer than the GBC, the GBA, the GBAsp, the GB Micro, and each individual DS SKU. The only figure I don;t have is the GB discontinue date since people keep combining it with the GBC even though they are not Skus and are different systems. So until i know that so far Atari also has the longest lasting handheld. I do agree with you as well, the 8-bit computers had so much to be honest, it explains why they lasted that long. ST was good too but they lacked quite a bit, Commodore/Amiga gained a lot of ground while Atari kind of didn't. I find it so funny the Jack though they should screw the Pc's and focus on the Jaguar. :D Edit: I am still checking but good god, looks like they might have laptops down too. I am at a loss of words here.
