Or do you decide to wait it out for a certain amount of time for a price drop, better games to come out, or whatever reason you feel should be a better time to get one?

Well its gets more complicated why each time but.....some reasons to wait: money(just to save it up lol), glitches(1st run consoles are screwed alot of the times ps1-2 / 360), software (see if anyone is going to dominate or have craploads of software, and who has better exclusives) and I guess Features(If a console had built in backwards compatability that would make me jump alot faster).

But no I havent been in a rush to get a console in forever?

I asked because I was randomly youtubing some videos and I saw this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMKjsGpdYY8

I personally wait it out because yes the glitches are there, and I'm not into what I call "showcase" games. Y'know the ones that showoff the consoles power?

I waited 3 years to get a PS3 and by the time I got it, there were tons of games available.

I used to buy a console at its launch. But this generation I slowed down a bit and next generation I see myself waiting considerably longer. In fact, with consoles becoming more and more like a PC (and games getting ported left and right), I could see myself waiting until the end of the lifecycle to pick one up and just relying on my PC.

If I have the money yes, but if not it's best to wait a year or maybe two, to ensure you don't get a screwed over glitchy console and the price is good. :P

I prefer waiting a few months. This doesn't only include the fact the price will be lower and a larger archive of games are available, but it also ensures almost every time that the hardware will be much more stable. Exactly one of the few reasons why I waited to get a 360 until last year.

I usually wait until the console has some good jrpg's.

Another reason why i wait is to see how well the console does in terms of developer support, and sales.

*Shrugs* I've got no objection in theory, but in practice I didn't manage to pick up a system on launch day this generation since I refused to pay inflated prices and I refused to buy bundles.

Also,I might get the PS4 at launch, but after me and my brother's experiences with the X360 (to name a few, he went into his pocket twice early on since MS was still at the 'Its your fault' stage and I dumped mine after MS told me they wouldn't repair my $100 wireless adapter for free), I will wait at least two years before picking up the X720.

I was going to but since the PS3 system turned out bad with alot of issues at release I'll wait. The 80 gig I have now is working perfectly.

I don't buy a console at launch anymore as I did with all the consoles before the current generation, but I do get them within a few months.

I never buy consoles at launch, I wait for price drops and more games to come out. Also, any problems with the console (Eg, RROD) are usually fixed after a while.

waiting for upgrades seems like a good idea, i'd hate to have a non HDMI 20GB 360. Then again i wish my ps3 would play ps2 games.

anyway i sometimes buy on the day, there's more excitement, there's something anticlimactic about playing the good early games 2 years later unless they're as good as the likes of MGS4.. so for the buzz, i think its worth it.

I usually do for the new ones, but not upgrade ones (e.g. PSP-2000, 3000). The ones with huge improvements, yes.

I guess im one of the only ones who was happy to buy the 360 at launch. It didnt break for 2 years and then it was covered by the 3 year extended warranty and i had so much fun with pdz(sold it), cod2(sold it) and pgr3(sold it). I just recently bought a ps3 and im already only really using it for movies.

Depends on games that are comming out with the system, but most of the time I get a system when it comes out or within the first 3 months of it comming out.

Yeah I'll pick up a system on day one. It mostly depends on what games come out with it but the features of what the console can offer also factor into my decision as well.

I'll probably buy systems on day one if I can afford them. My tastes are probably broad enough at this point that I can find entertainment in a variety of games.

I waited it out on PS3 and 360. I bought a Wii the minute it came out (technically before, since I preordered), and the only other system I've done that with was PS2. Generally I take a wait and see approach.
