It happens when you wait for a sale and then the base game gets like 67% off and the best dlc (the one you actually want) gets only 33% off.
Oh well, doesn't look like there's any way around it.

@RSM-HQ: they will sell the ultimate ver next year for full price, either migrate or be left out.
And the content will be at least another 100+ hours of gameplay ontop the game already available. With likely an upgrade option.
I don't see the issue considering they'll provide more free DLC Event quests with that version also.
You get more value for your money with MH than any series that comes to mind.
@thereal25:
Not really into online games but it sounds okay I guess.
I understand the confusion but MH was never an online game/ series. Every quest can be played solo, like Dark Souls it just scales when you add in other players.
Ah, I didn't know that... in that case I'm interested! Will have to wait to Aug 9 for pc version tho!
I'll look into it a bit more...
Flight Simulator X is a 2006 game and costs $25 at Steam. Compare the paid DLC for it:

I rarely find the cost of DLC to be worth it. Of course, I'm the kind of person that never pays the full $60 for a game. Anyway, it kinda sucks but at least bundled versions are usually a thing if you can wait that long. I sold my copy of Far Cry 5 just so I can buy it again bundled with all the DLC whenever that happens.
Fallout 4 is a good example right now of a game with DLC that costs more than the main game. Looking at the PlayStation Store, the game is $30 and they still have the Season Pass listed at $50, which I always thought was overpriced. There's a lot of content in the main game as it is. The Season Pass altogether might have, I dunno, half the content you get from the vanilla game. I guess you can get the game + DLC bundled for $60 on the store. Of course, your best option is to just find a physical copy online of the GOTY edition for like $30. So there's that.
@SoNin360: Yes Fallout 4 is a good example. The dlc's weren't all that great anyway. It took them FOREVER to release a goty edition so in the end I had to cave in and spend more on the "season pass" than I did on the base game.
It's getting to the point that we can't really avoid spending full price on a game - when people are rating the dlc's as better than the main game the temptation is big!
And the dlc's never seem to get discounted as deeply as the main game for some reason - despite some being quite a few years old.
And then there's the issue of the the number of dlc's. I mean if a game is making tons of dlc - then even the eventual complete edition isn't exactly going to be cheap.
