i dont know but i find the game series kinda just ok not really a must play like GOD of warwillxcoolIt all depends on how much effort the player is willing to invest to find new combos for himself, like any other action game you "can"get through it with just mashing the square button however you are given a small army of vastly divrent attacks
DMC has a kickass gothic atmosphere and rewards players for using combos/style when they fight. IMO, this makes the DMC's gameplay much more satisfying than the more button-mashing-type action games.
DMC3 SE is one of the all-time greatest PS2 games. It is awesome from beginning to end.
If you play DMC3SE and like it enough, go back and play DMC1 if you want more DMC goodness. The only nitpicks I have with DMC1 is that it has the kinds of fixed camera issues that most games that were made back then have. And also DMC1 has a pretty corny ending.

Actually DMC1 would feel unplayable after DMC3 due to its sluggish controls that is unles sthe player is a masochist. hot114
I don't remember the controls being sluggish -- but it has been many, many years since I played DMC1 so I guess it's possible. You almost make me want to pull out my old copy of DMC1 to see just how sluggish it is.
I don't have the time though because I'm on an RPG kick right now. I'm trying to finish up all the old PS2 RPGs that I never got around to playing. (Ironically, I'm actually playing Nocturne right now and I just got to the part where you fight Dante. One of the strangest crossovers I've seen, but Dante is an awesome character in whatever game he appears in).
