I know this is open to opinion and so on but based purely on the volume of praise and positive reviews from the majority of critics, I'm going to put Blizzard Entertainment out there as one of the few if only developers that can truly claim to have a flawless track record.

Any others?

Arkane Studios: the only studio I can honestly say, literally say, has never made a "bad" game.

Dishonored series

Prey (2017)

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic

Arx Fatalis

and they did a great job with a bunch of ported content (Bioshock, CoD World at War)

Stardock: OK they might have a mediocre one here and there, but it sure seems like they release nothing but hits.

Sins of a Solar Empire

Galactic Civilization

Offworld Trading company

Ashes of the Singularity

Blizzard: while they have sort of resulted to just churning out stuff from their cash cows (who can blame them, though) the fact remains their games are incredibly fun to play. More importantly, they have tremendous shelf-life to them; I was more or less playing Diablo 2 up until Diablo 3 came out. They made WoW which is quite literally an international phenomena.

Starcraft

Warcraft

Diablo

Creative Assembly: OK there might be one, maybe two, mediocre Total War games out there but for the most part, the series is flawless. Not only that, but it somehow manages to get better and better with every installment (mostly).

Total War series

Alien: Isolation (arguably the best scary game to come out in a long, long time)

Retro Studio's track record is gold right now.

They've brought us one of the greatest action-adventure trilogies of all time with Metroid Prime then they produced 2 of the greatest 2D platformers ever made.

Image and Form Games are pretty well regarded as I've seen, sadly they did make a pretty mediocre DS game, as well as some phone games before they started making games with a bigger budget.

As for the whole 'Blizzard are flawless'. . Well if one ignores the older games like mediocre Radical Psycho Machine Racing and Blackthorne sure. . It's also worth noting before its huge improvements a lot of fans didn't really like Diablo III, in its vanilla P.C. release DIII was pretty annoying. It's the only version I played, gave up and scored it a 6/10 wasn't very impressed.

I think it's Westwood because of their Red Alert 1 and 2 except Red Alert 3, though its changes are kinda great but not as great as RA 1 and 2.

I also wouldn't call it good. Below average Arena based game with a one-note gimmick.

They also did DMC 3, and Viewtiful Joe 2 (and VJ1 before they were called Clover, but same people). Great developer.

@judaspete: Erm, that's incorrect.

Hideaki Itsuno san has his own studio in Capcom, and they developed DMC3, DMC4 and Dragon's Dogma.

And are currently working on an unnamed project.

@judaspete: No worries dood, I'm just a big fan of Itsuno Capcom games.

Clover and the studio members that went to Platinum have made some amazing games as well.

I agree with some that have already been mentioned so I'll just add a couple that haven't. Supergiant Games (of Bastion and Transistor fame) and Dontnod Entertainment (Life is Strange and Remember me). Of course both have the advantage of not having released many games so far but still.

Off the top of my head, I'd say CD Projekt Red. Though they've only made the three Witcher games so far.

I might say Intelligent Systems they had a really strong track record for a while.

I remember I think their first average game was around 2009 or something but they have been making games since 1984.

@Starshine_M2A2: What a subjective question.

But i think one developer most agree on is either Rockstar or even tho i hate Overwatch Blizzard.

@Jacanuk: I acknowledged it was subjective in my OP. I was merely curious as to people’s opinions. So I’m really not sure what your point is.

Naughty Dogs. Uncharted series, The Last of Us, & Crash Bandicoot are all amazing games that never went to bad playing games.

yeah I guess Blizzard is your best guess. Of course it depends on when you consider a game "bad". A lot of the devs named here have several average titles in their library.

Nintendo - Can't think of a game I'd consider "bad". And they've made a shitload of games, so they have to be on #1. Wii Music/Party and 1-2 Switch are games I don't consider good, but they can still be fun as party games, which is the point with them.
Valve - No game they've made is bad, but they haven't really done that much.
Retro Studios - So far, all games have been awesome. Including DK: Tropical Freeze, poopface GS.

I went back and you're not missing much. The quite boring combat, crappy story elements, dissapointing artstyle and soundtrack, etc. is still there. Wouldn't really say it's a bad game, though. Just very dissapointing going from Diablo 2 to... that. It's hard to explain, but it's just boring to me. It feels like it's made by a different studio than D2, and I can understand the "WoWification" people talked about. Titan Quest and Grim Dawn are better ARPGS, imo. Haven't tried Path of Exile..

@Litchie: That's reassuring, been asked a few times to give Diablo III a second chance, and ironically I'm being told this for my current love of Divinity: Original Sin II. Which has little in common with Diablo games lol.

Grim Dawn is a game I bought on sale and yet to dive in, it will be my next in the Diablo/ RPG Hack n' Slash genre.

Right now however, alittle burnt out after trying Dragon Age Origin for the first time this year and not being very impressed. Sunk about fifteen hours in and wondered why I do this to myself lol. Blame myself for always trying games many call classics that I missed out on.

@davillain-: Try their 3DO fighting game, the one that tried to copy Mortal Kombat, you'll change your tune about them never making a bad game lol.

Bethesda, Blizzard, Rockstar, Playdead, and I'm going to say Bioware even with Andromeda.
