There were plenty back in the PS1 days, but to name just one: Metal Gear Solid.
Man, I must have spent hours playing that demo over and over. It was just so amazing and fresh and I loved thinking of new ways to mess with the guards in those same two little areas. Then I begged my parents to get it for me as a reward for straight A's on my report card lol. Ah, good times.

Lots but one that particularly stands out would be the demo for Indigo Prophecy. I bought the OPMÂ that had it because it had a demo I was interested in (can't remember if it was the SotC or Battlefront 2 issue) but anyway I tried it once and thought the premise was interesting but nothing special. Then I saw my brother try it out and he got different dialogue trees and options that I didn't notice the first time. That's when I thought this game is going to be different...
I was right, it was a good game, it's just that the last parts were bloody rushed...
a lot of demos actually do the reverse for me. i end up skipping over the game after seeing lack luster demos...
The only games I recently purchased because of a demo was Crackdown
Call Of Duty- Those demos were just awesome.
Tomb Raider Anniversary- loved it.
Company Of Heroes- Had no interest in the game until the demo, which I downloaded as I was bored. I wasnt bored for a looong time after that :)Â
Crackdown, Have not bought yet, but the demo has convinced me that it is a good purchase
Just Cause- I loved the non-stop stunts and action. I still prefer the demo to the full game :(
I must say, I do generally play demos more than full games on the 360, because I just cant afford £40 for 1 game.
[QUOTE="Werner73"]FEAR and STALKER most definately. There has been a few others, and then there have games that I thought I would like but after playing the demo realized it wasn't really what I expected. One such game was Area 51.
