I just bought the Bishock Collection for PS4. I've played all the games before, but I'm a little fuzzy abut all the plot details because it's been a while. What's the best order to play these in? Infinte is set before the other Bioshock games, so should I start with that one, or is it better to play them in release order?

In this order:

  1. Bioshock
  2. Bioshock 2
  3. Bioshock: Infinite

In this order really. Bioshock 1 should be play first cause it's the first game in the series that follows after Bioshock 2. Bioshock: Infinite kinda does it's own thing from the previous 2 games, what I mean by that is, Infinite can go both ways from the past or future from Bioshock 1/2 storyline due to Infinite is connected to both Bioshock 1/2. In other words, just play the game in the order I explain.

@heljar: I play all the Bioshock games on Xbox 360 years ago, I didn't bother with the the DLC due to me playing new games as the times pass and I couldn't be bother with there DLC but I do know for a fact that they are meant to be play in the same order as if you were playing Bioshock 1/2/3 and DLC shouldn't have any connection to the next main games.

I didn't look too deep into this remaster collection but I do love Bioshock (Sadly I didn't like Infinite) so I'll probably buy this remaster when it's on sale ether on PS4 or PC.

Play Bioshock 1 followed by 2, then you want to take Infinite and toss it in the trash.

Play em in the order they released. And don't listen to these folks. Infinite was fantastic and is worth playing.

Yeah it's best to play them in order of release and all three games are excellent.

Bioshock 1 and 2 should be played in order however. Infinite is a standalone experience there is only a super small detail at the end of the game that connects the two. Burial at the sea expansion however for Bioshock Infinite should be played after Bioshock 1+2 for the best experience.

1, 2, then Infinite

Doesn't really matter, especially with Infinite. But ideally you would play Bioshock 1 then Bioshock 2.

I cannot think of a single game series where chronological release isn't the best way to play a set of games.

@davillain-: Bioshock Infinite is actually the prequel to Bioshock 1. Burial at Sea is what connects the dots between Bioshock 1, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock Infinite. Bioshock 2 is part of the timeline, but it has its own storyline. So if you're going to play them in Order Bioshock Infinite would be the first to be played.

@davillain-: In the DLC of Bioshock Infinite you play as Elizabeth exploring rapture to make sure the events that happens on Bioshock 1 do happen though it costs her life in the process because Andrew Ryan has her killed by a group that you kill on Bioshock 1.
