The best racing game I've ever played was F-Zero GX. Super Mario Kart and Burnout Paradise are fine choices as well.

I prefer the "proper" racing games... such as Forza, GT and the F1 series.

Burnout Paradise was a huge disappointment, no idea how someone could claim it was the best when it's not even the best in the franchise, Burnout 3 was a much, much better game.

I'd probably go with Wip3out as my personal favorite race game. Wipeout XL was just as good though.

I'm pretty sure FH2 uses the same engine as F5 so all the handling is sim heavy no? But i guess you just mean the open world setting.

Gran Turismo 5 & 6. Five had loooooads of problems, but driving/racing from cockpit view was the closest thing to the real thing for me, since physics & handling were outstanding. Excellent sense of speed for 450 HP - 750 HP cars too.

Grid Autosport than Grid 2 and than Project Cars is a good one.

These races games are excellent. Of course the music is so so like always and the game could be a lot better.

Forza 4 by far is the best racing game I've played. Driveclub is what I'm currently playing and it's pretty good and challenging. And I really wanted to like The Crew but it was disappointing in a lot of ways.

Need for Speed hands down. But still Moto GP and Nascar and Gran Turismo are still recommendable.

^^ This. Horizon 2 is my favorite racing game ever. Forza 6 replaces 5 for sim-ish racers.

Forza horizon2, when you say arcade style what do you mean sir?

He means that the handling, in general, is more forgiving/less realistic. HOWEVER, both Forza series' can be tuned to any level of arcade/sim, within reason. You want an open world/off road game with realistic and unforgiving physics, you can tune Horizon 2's difficulty to as hard as you wish and vice/versa with Motorsport.

Also, due to the openness of Horizon 2, if feels much more like an arcade game, regardless of whatever settings one chooses. Simcade within the arcade feel is awesome. It'd be like having Gran Turismo physics inside of Need for Speed, if you chose to, but you don't have to.

Forza is awesome! Here's to hoping for both a Forza Kart series and Forza Rally series to be added! :D
