This is the year 2007.
So far, I honestly can't think of one. There will be a large number of honor worthy games later this year and I think for me Bioshock and Mass Effect have a good chance of taking it.
Nothing really comes to mind so far. GRAW2 is probably the best release thus far, but it's only an incremental improvement on its predecessor so hardly a must-buy. Super Paper Mario has exhibited some real originality and flair so is probably more deserving.
But the big games all have yet to be released - I'm thinking of Mass Effect and Bioshock rather than the more obvious franchises of Halo and GTA.
stront... sorry 'bout that... 2006, I should have known.. only I bought it in 2007, but there is a great line up for 2007.. but up till now probably: God of War 2..

Glad you said AD, because 2007 BC I was busy doing some landscaping.
I'd have to say Stalker is the best game so far this year, but you need a fast machine to run it with max graphics to get full enjoyment out of it. Burning Crusade expansion was a pretty good distraction although I haven't played for a month (waiting for 2.1 patch).
