For the old fat silver PS2, Pal version:

Which doesn't involve sending off the console to sony or anyone, or involves buying a new console.

The problem my PS2 has is that when I put in silver-backed discs, they dont run 99% of the time, blue discs work fine... I've seen many methods for this but I dont know which one is the best

I had the same problem some time ago. I just opened up the whole ps2 and cleaned the lens. I guess you could try use a cleaning disc if you don't want to open up your PS2.

ok, I will try that, I actually have opened up my PS2 to get out the dust but I don't have a small enough screw driver to get to the lens :(

My lens cleaning disc has extended the life of my launch date PS2 by about 2 years (and still going).

I wish they would bring down the prices of slims in UK, they are too expensive. In dollars they are almost $150 when I always here they are like $100 over there
