Assassins Creed: Black Flag, need info

So, I've not yet played through the previous Assassin's Creed games, only tested the first one. Since there isn't many games on PS4, I was thinking of getting the newest Assassin's Creed, but I'm not sure whether its story is somehow related to the previous Assassin's Creed games. So, should I first play the previous games or is this one completely separate game?

Desmonds story ended in AC3, so AC4 is completely different and fresh. But its also great if you play the previous first

I think you'll be fine going straight into AC4. But I must suggest to play the previous ones cause they're great!

AC2 is probably the best just because of the ending.....it is mind blowing. Trust me.

What the hell u doing?play them! start with AC2 then brotherhood and revelations

You haven't played AC2 yet? What planet are you from?

If your low on time, I say play AC2. It's the best out of three.
