Is it a term of pride for you, or does it make you cringe, or something in-between?
I ask this because personally, it makes me cringe. On one hand, there's a certain amount of fondness for me to consider myself an enthusiastic gamer, one who deeply cares about my favorite hobby. But on the other there is an embarrassing association with the negative stereotype that goes with it.
Over on System Wars, people use the word "hardcore" and "casual" like a sword, thinking that calling your favorite game the latter is an insult meant to wound and offend. That kind of stuff really chaps my ass.
I was just wondering how you guys feel about such terminology, and all the insinuations that go along with it? Not that anyone should particularly care what others think about what you do, or how you do it, but I'm sure you all have valid opinions about the topic.
Please discuss.
