I was fairly certain this game would be scoring an aggregate closer to the 70-80 mark given the different developer and the fact that this seemed more like an extension of Arkham City rather than an entirely new endeavor.
However, Arkham City is one of the best games ever made so if this game manages to keep the quality of the previous entry intact while adding some variety in the way of boss fights and new challenge rooms I don’t see a problem.
And others who have cited the hypocrisy of sites slamming this game as redundant while circle-jerking other franchises, some of them YEARLY, which are guilty of the same thing have a pretty good goddamn point.
Personally, I’m not too concerned and I’ll have a better understanding of the situation once I play the game this afternoon.
I have noticed a pattern with you Grammaton.
It seems that if a game lets you have a open world to play in, its the best game, you did this with GTA and now you do it with AC and probably if you continue the trend, with AO, since its more AC just a bigger world and a slightly different development style.
So i won´t be surprised if you really like this game come on later and tell the rest of us how wrong Carolyn is.
Firstly, there is a protracted difference between a game like Arkham City and GTAV because the former employs an open-world construct merely as a centralized and interactive hub used to facilitate mostly linear missions where by contrast GTAV is a massive sandbox largely predicated on exploration and gameplay variety.
These games could not be more dissimilar.
As to the notion that I like open world games, I absolutely adore them.
My own personal ideology and subsequent affinity for this medium is centered upon the notion that videogames are defined by their inherent interactivity and malleability and thus open world games, especially those which give the player copious freedom, are often the apex of this medium.
Though to be certain some of the best games ever made are also the most focused and linear.
As for your prediction about why I would prefer this game more than AC, I would caution you not to assume you know me well enough to make such claims because such unsubstantiated conjecture will more than likely detonate in your face.
Let me put it another way: The manner in which I analyze, deconstruct and ultimately assess games is far more nuanced, insightful, and logically balanced than anything I’ve seen you shit out on these forums so might I suggest you worry about your own metrics and not presume to make asinine and insulting comments as to my own tastes and predilections.
Lastly, since you seem so fond of patterns let’s look at a Januck pattern:
You don’t like a game > You denounce said game > You claim said game is only praised because of hype > You come to the fallacious and almost adorably ironic conclusion that Januck is the only smart person who sees the truth.
You did this with GTAV and you are demonstrating similar patterns with your derision of AC.
