Are Tycoon games dead?

Most of us have played them, and lots of us loved them, but there did they all go?

Anyone know of any new tycoon games that are up-and-coming in the next year or so? Someone needs to unearth Roller Coaster Tycoon and make a new one, or any of it's competitor games; tech. has come so far since I saw a big release of one, I think it's about time for a new one!

i can't find the link, but a few months ago the roller coaster tycoon people posted on teh atari forums looking for idea and opinions from the community about roller coaster tycoon 4. so theres hope for that.

If you know of any other tycoon games, pass the word as I enjoy them too.

You must play GameDevStory, available for the iOS and Android devices. You'll burn out eventually, but it's pretty addictive while it lasts.

So says my review, anyway.

Roller Coaster Tycoon was one of the few I liked. I really hope RCT4 is made.

There is a Zoo management game coming up soon from Microsoft. I took a quick look and it appears to be similar to Zoo Tycoon.

I tried out Outpost Kaloki as recommended, it's ok, but very basic and the effects didn't last very long. I want something new, with new graphics, and improved everything, someone MAKE IT HAPPEN.

For those LOOKING for a good tycoon game, I would recommend looking into Startopia. This game was made my Mucky Foot and flew under-the-radar upon it's release. Most people I talk to have never heard of the game, but I don't care what review you read or where it is, it's a freggin' good game. Check it out if your looking for some new tycoon meat to munch on.

If anyone is interested, Good Old Games (gog.com) just added Roller Coaster Tycoon 1.

Tycoon games are very quiet lately, I grew up with them being one of my favourite genres going through all the rollercoaster tycoon series etc.. I haven't heard of any in developement and I've just tried looking for that Zoo one by microsoft somebody mentioned above but I didn't find anything?

My favourites have to be;

RollerCoaster Tycoon 1 & 2 (3 I didn't like)
Zoo Tycoon 1 (2 I didn't like!)
School Tycoon - is short but fun while it lasts.
Prison Tycoon
Ski Resort Tycoon
Theme Park World (PC)
Theme Park INC (PC)

I heard Mall Tycoon was good buy I am yet to try it. I've actually noticed Facebook games seem to be going in the direction of tycoon games, maybe that will get interest in the genre again for a PC developer to make some good games :)

Haven't heard much news about them, but we all know those games are an absolute blast.

Still play rollercoaster tycoon games love them..Heard they are working on number 4 man i hope so..Ill buy it day one..Think the problem was they went from 2d to 3d..No one really lliked te change to 3d..Maybe they should just go simple again..

I loved my Tycoon games :) Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and 3 (never got 2), Zoo Tycoon 1 and 2, prison Tycoon, and Sid Meier's RailRoads!. I also played one other, Construction Tycoon. That was the worst game I have ever played.

I would so love it if they made another Roller Coaster Tycoon! As well as another Zoo Tycoon. Lol I lost my copy of Sid Meier's RailRoads though :(

I must say, despite how addictive Zoo Tycoon 2 can be at times, it really disapointed me how, despite the huge graphical leap (compaired to Zoo Tycoon 1), Zoo Tycoon 2 was simply missing so many things and it wasnt that challenging. If they do make another Zoo Tycoon, I hope fences can age and break (without the help of a dino), people can die (yeah that was my favorite part of Zoo Tycoon. What can I say, Im evil:twisted: ) and creative maps make a come back (I hated the small and medium and large maps in Zoo Tycoon 2)

Really? I loved the switch from 2d to 3d, though I thought the peeps in RCT3 looked terrible.
