With the previous year over, we move on to the next year where we await whatever games comes out, 2023 does seem to be shaping to be a better year for gaming with a lot of solid and hyped games coming out. I am not going to be mentioning any of the games that I gave anticipation to last year that are coming out this year but here are the biggest and most anticipated games of 2023.

10: Hollow Knight Silksong

Developer: Team Cherry

2017's Hollow Knight was a superb metroidvania game from Team Cherry and the developers are working hard on bringing the sequel this year. It will feature plenty of gameplay from the original which involves fast combat, exploration and platforming but there will be optional hunt quests that players can take part in.

9: Assassin's Creed Mirage

Developer: Ubisoft

Although Ubisoft has been on the fence with their open world games that they continue to do, it has been 3 years since we had an Assassin's Creed game and Ubisoft is finally going to be bringing us a new game in this series. It will return to the series roots with focus being shifted to linear storytelling and stealth-based gameplay. It is also going to be based on 9th century Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age where you play as Basim Ibn Ishaq a character who was introduced in Valhalla. It is planned to be the 15-year anniversary of the franchise that has been a reasonably solid series since its debut in 2007.

8: Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon

Developer: FromSoftware

Once upon a time before the studio became known for the souls/borne games they worked on different IPs that they had and one of those was Armored Core, a franchise about mechs called ACs. It has been a long time since players got to pilot an AC against enemy ACs so now is the best time to return to the Armored Core. While no gameplay was shown but I hope that it retains the gameplay of the other games but modernize it. It promised that it will allow you to customize your AC so that you can get new parts for it to build your own dream mech combat AC.

7: Redfall

Developer: Arkane Austin

Arkhane the studio that gave us Dishonoured and Deathloop is working on their next game Redfall. The game will be both a single player and co-operative experience where you have four characters that have a unique background story and different abilities. Players end up facing off against vampires as well as dealing with human enemies. While it has been delayed to 2023, the time will mean that we will get a great game from a great studio who has been releasing good titles.

6: Fire Emblem Engage

Developer: Intelligent Systems

After what Intelligent Systems accomplished with Fire Emblem Three Houses fans of the series should look forward to the announced Fire Emblem Engage. The game contains the enjoyable turn-based strategy gameplay of previous titles but it introduces Emblem Rings which allows you to fight alongside previous Fire Emblem characters. It will also have activities that you can do such as working out, fishing and dining. This Fire Emblem title shows great promise and we can hope that this new entry delivers.

5: Street Fighter 6

Developer: Capcom

After what happened with Street Fighter V Capcom is ready to deliver the next gen Street Fighter game and players got to experience the closed beta which actually delivered. It will utilize some mechanics being able to parry attacks, the Drive Gauge which encourages players to be creative as you can use it for different techniques alongside Super Combos. The new feature that is coming is the World Tour where you actually get to create your very own Street Fighter and tell your own story within the Street Fighter universe. While Capcom's seriously known for doing WAY too many revisions of Street Fighter games, they are ready to get the first round in for the next generation of fighting games.

4: Star Wars Jedi Survivor

Developer: Respawn Entertainment

When EA took over the Star Wars video game license, they completely squandered it with the Battlefront reboot games, then came Respawn Entertainment a really talented game studio which brought us Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order which offered us a fantastic single player Star Wars experience. It proved to EA that people wanted more single player titles. Respawn Entertainment is returning with the sequel which sees the return of Cal Kestis on his mission of fighting against the Galactic Empire. It plans to expand on the formula of Jedi Fallen Order which includes stances for Lightsaber combat and new force powers. Players can't wait for the next chapter of Cal Kestis' storyline in this upcoming Star Wars game.

3: Marvel Spider Man 2

Developer: Insomniac Games

Insomniac has delivered two of the greatest Spider Man games in the franchise and after how well they turned out the studio is working on the true sequel which will hopefully come soon this year. Although trailers didn't reveal any gameplay but however, we do know that Venom returns for this game. We can expect this game to have web slinging exploration and also web combat. We can't wait to hear more about the game and also the final release date this year.

2: The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Developer: Nintendo

Nintendo finally unveiled the sequel to 2017's excellent Breath of the Wild and everything about it that has been shown in the trailers is a recipe of success. The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom's graphics look superb even for the Nintendo Switch and also there are some new things being added to the gameplay from having Floating Islands that you get to see above Hyrule which you are able to soar across them. Fans have been wanting a Breath of the Wild sequel and for what has been shown so far it will look to be the Zelda game that fans wanted.

1: Goldeneye 007

Developer: Rare

Okay, I know that I am giving anticipation for a game that is over 25 years old at this point and it would feel somewhat pointless to do so but please hear me out. Goldeneye 007 a beloved Nintendo 64 FPS classic has been on many discussion pages of wanting to be brought to modern consoles. People wanted this game to appear on the Wii's Virtual Console and also there was a leak of the beta of Goldeneye which planned to be a remaster for Xbox Live Arcade but however it has become one of the most difficult games to get licensing and contracts agreement permissions for. A September Nintendo Direct video revealed that the Nintendo 64 masterpiece is finally coming to modern consoles. It is coming to the Nintendo Switch's Online Service for Nintendo 64 games which will offer up support for Online Play while the Xbox version will be a Remaster that will have Achievements as well as Local Multiplayer. We have waited enough years for one of the best James Bond video game movie tie-ins to finally come to an online service and with major studios including Rare, Nintendo and Microsoft finally signing contracts and coming to deals we can finally play this glorious masterpiece soon enough this year.
