It's not Gundam, but if you want a pretty cool sidescrolling mech game for SNES try Metal Warriors.

Based on a Gundam series there isn't any that I know of but some good side scrolling games where you are in a mech

Metal Warriors (SNES)
Cybernator/Assault Suit Valken (SNES)
Front Mission Gun Hazard (SNES)
Target Earth/Assault Suit Leynos (GEN)
Assault Suit Leynos 2 (SAT)
Metal Storm (NES)

The only GBA games I know that use Gundam like robots (or actually do use Gundams and pilots from the shows) is the Super Robot Teisen games but those are SRPGs.

Action, fighting, same thing really

Not really, not by what is usualy thought of in genres of games or by definition.

2D Side scrolling shooters/platformers is what he should have said though.

No, its not the same thing really. Two totally different genres.. Anyways TC your best bet is Front mission gun hazard for SNES.

Somebody beat me too it, but Target Earth and Metal Warriors as very Gundam-esque and are both side scrolling mech games. There's also Ranger X for the MD/Genesis which is a very, very cool game. I surprised it's not more valuable and sought after than it is.

There's an arcade GUNDAM side-scrolling shooting-action game called PSYCHO SALAMANDER.

The game is surprisingly pretty good despite its super deformed look, which I'm personally not fond of.

I remember I bought the board for like around US$100 like 8 yers ago, now it's worth like $400.

Front Mission Gun Hazard is another good one.

Those are closest I know of, I've looked in the past. The only Gundam games I know of are the Fighting games, the Super Robot Teisen SRPGs that involve the Gundam series or characters, the third person action games, and the Dynasty Warrior like ones. I've never heard of any side scrollers other than the ones I listed (and Ranger X that another said) and if Panzer_Zwei doesn't know of any I'd say the chances of finding someone here who does is low.
