I think it's safe to say we've all been burned by the likes of Peter Molyneux and Todd Howard in the past, but are there any games of any age that you believe to have mostly or fully delivered on the promised ambitions and immersion factor?

The closest one that ticks all those boxes for me is Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines... with the unofficial patch of course. It's amazing that something originally laden with so many bugs can still feel like it has a living, breathing world that you play just a small part in.

Star Citizen

*waits for laughs to die down*

OK, I know...not even done yet...long cycle...far from complete. But the game has already accomplished so much; from being a largely crowd-funded, independent game that goes BEYOND AAA quality standards (yes, beyond), the game is pretty damn incredible. And it's not even finished yet!

Hell, it could never be finished and it's scope is still 10x that of current AAA games.

@Zuon:

Red Dead Redemption 2

God of War 4

Spiderman Ps4

None of them disappointed me one bit!

Most recently... God of War. It looked like a promising and bold new direction for the franchise. I was a bit worried, but once I saw the reviews and actually played it, I'd definitely say that it lived up to the hype.
