What a gorgeous gorgeous looking game. I want to have Crytek's babies.

Let's hope the game plays as well it looks then. Still seems incredibly underwhelming.

So, are you commenting on the graphics, or have you changed your mind about the quality of the game?

Its looks great. It makes me wonder how bad the game can possibly be cause the trailer looks very promising.

Been trying to get excited about this game since E3, but, gorgeous as it is graphically, the gameplay looks mediocre, IMO.

Really hoping a demo can change my mind. If one isn't available I just can't see me dropping $60 on this. I buy games when the price matches my interest. In no way do I have $60 of interest in Ryse.

Still, I'm rotting for this game to be good.

I don't like ancient Rome/Spartan/Gladiator type settings at all. Has absolutely never appealed to me. All I can think when watching that is "Ha, those soldiers are wearing skirts!".

Skirts are manly.

Kilts can be, but the Romans are definitely wearing skirts. :)

But Graphics doesnt make up for a shitty game, just ask the guys behind Crysis

I liked Crysis, right up to the point I had to fight a bunch of screeching flying little alien things.

I love that kind of setting. The 'skirts' don't bother me in the least.

LOL....Outside of the nice visuals, I do like the setting in ancient Rome.

They wore pants (braccae), too, but the "skirt" is more Hollywood, so that's what everyone shows a Roman army in. Similarly, Romans did not have the concept of uniforms, so while everyone might have had a standardized kit (lorica, sword, pilum, etc) they would have varied individually in style. Further, veterans used to hang trophies from their lappets, showing others what battles they fought in. So, it's not this army ant visual that persists in pop culture.

Anyway, Crytek can do graphics. We know this. It's the game part I'm worried about, but I'm still excited to give this a shot.

@Ish_basic: Exactly. It's always about the gameplay itself, not the graphics. Gameplay makes or breaks a game for me and as beautiful and gorgeous Ryse looks, it all comes down to how much fun you're going to have with it. I don't want it to be a fully-QTE experienced game though.

Does look really impressive. Probably the best looking (graphically) launch game I've seen. Don't mess this one up, Crytek.

Game looks absolutely gorgeous, I wouldn't put it up there with KZ (especially taking scale into the equation) but its got that next gen feel. It makes me excited to see 2014/15 games.

I also love the setting, I just wish it wasn't wasted by the shitty looking gameplay. It would be cool if someone made a game set in the 1200-1300s and base it on William Wallaces life. From Gladiator to Braveheart, next gen would win by default.

I'm having a tough time turning this one down. The setting appeals to me, the visuals are fantastic, and the story looks like it will hold its own. That said, I'll probably wait until I see some reviews. Dead Rising 3 will hold me over for a few weeks before I'll need something else to play, single player wise.

On Topic: This game looks good. And even the gameplay looks better in this particular trailer. I'm not convinced yet, but I'll keep an open mind and try to find a demo of it to get hold of. I'd like to have another launch title to be excited for since they've been dropping like flies these past couple of days.

Graphics are nice, but I've lost all faith in CryTek in terms of delivering a game that I'll actually like playing.

I wonder if they wore any underpants back then. Or if they just went full commando into battles.

Really good graphics about on Witcher 2 level(not the art design though), I don't know about the gameplay(hasn't looked so great so far) or the story(made by Crytek which means probably not going to be very good, maybe summer blockbuster action film good(not very good imo)). Good graphics though.

I'm picking this up along with Dead Rising 3 next month.

the skirt is actually the bottom half of a long shirt (called a tunic), which was belted at the midsection. And soldiers and gladiators would have worn undergarments, usually shorts or a bikini-like leather covering. Yes, roman legionnaires kicked ass in calf-skin speedos, and that makes them infinitely more badass than any army in the history of the world.

Looks like another typical Crytek game - impressive graphics but lackluster gameplay. I'll pass.

I wish they'd just do a goddamn gladiator game with these graphics and a deep fighting engine with plenty of gore already. Instead it looks like a shallow QTE-fest heavily made-up. Bah, what do I care? Not getting a Xbone anyway.
