Alien Isolation didn't flop? Surprise of the year

People mean different things by "Flop".... Its best to avoid these circles

1.) You really should make up your own mind about games, best way is to PLAY THEM YOURSELF instead of trusting too much into reviews.

2.) No...you really cant trust reviews at all.

3.) ...you especially cant trust GAMESPOT REVIEWS...

...coz as long its not an indie game with 8-bit retro graphics and things to do like open drawers and reading papers or even better...running around in circles like a retard while following/reading a good story, its not worth a rating of 8 or 9.

The true test will be if people are still talking about this this game a month from now. I am betting not. If it will be in the Steam bargain bin in only a few months, we will know definitively it was a flop.

The critical response doesn't sway you guys at all? Every Alien game sucks and did horribly. The semi-positive reception definitely has me intrigued.

I would attribute spending $60 on a game you haven't researched to be more along the lines of "handpuppet". Anti-review people are the worst. I'm guessing you bought Vampire Rain, too?

The Best thing one can do is just do reseach.... Alot of research.

Unless you play games for the story then you're thouroughly screwed.

how many years do you live on this planet ? i guess you dont even know how many games based on the alien franchise even exist.

..actually there are enough good ALIEN games out there (i dont even count the AvP franchise), lets start with the classic blockbuster ALIENS arcade game, ALIEN TRILOGY for the psx and the following ALIEN RESURRECTION for the same system, all good games....oh and how could i forgot ALIENS for the C64, which got, compared to these days, better ratings than colonial marines.

i guess every mindless gamer out there constantly screams WWWAAH ALIEN COLONIAL MARINES! as soon they hear something about ALIENS...and to throw my few cents into the topic ALIENS COLONIAL MARINES....i think the game isnt shittier than those average first-person-shooters out there these days, it just couldnt hold up with its trailers and its hype, thats why so many "gamers" are angry about it like all those dumb fanboys swarming the internet.

AVP 1 & 2 didn't suck, neither did Extinction. Some people say AVP on the Jaguar is pretty good too, not sure though
I guess this is the first alien-exclusive game that had better critical reception than the rest

if 60$ is too much for you, then you probably should get a better job with better payment.

the only reason i dont want to spend money on a game is when its in a state of too many bugs or when its one of those games getting 20 patches per week until its playable the way it was meant to be, those games i buy/play when i think its the right time.

I dunno... I kinda lost interest when I heard that the Alien cast was being sold separately.

Flop has always referred to money and hence sales. Movies, video games, music, it doesn't matter. TC used it incorrectly. I sound like a dick but these bad thread titles have to stop. It just doesn't refer to ratings. That's a fact.

I spoke about not trusting reviews, i can read 1000 reviews and not trusting one of em, so yes....i am afraid reading reviews is not the same as trusting reviews, and of course i read reviews, i never said i dont read reviews, if you have troubles to think than at least try to read more carefully.

I'm sure it's a very popular game with the youtube crowds. The trend these days is, Play game on Twitch, and Youtube, and then you yourself goes and buy game, and now everyone is going mad over it and gives it raving reviews

The game is a massive flop by the looks of it. Another crappy Alien game.

Because it focus on scaring the player, I was expecting a large number of negative reaction to the game. I still can not believe some many refuse to even entertain ideals that there are many problem with forcusing on horror in video games.
