Just a few days ago they said they won't make a 3D pokemon because it would lose its identity. I could link the news but I can't be bothered, google it
Most of the environment in 5th gen Pokemon games are rendered in 3D. As for the combat, I have a feeling changing it to entirely 3D may decrease the pace. And I think a console Pokemon is a stupid idea.

To be honest it works fine with ds. Even better if we are talking local mp. And breeding grind for countless hours in front of tv? Im not fan of that. And all those time specific events are easier to do with handhelds too.

Pokemon has a great base behind it. The idea of it and the potential is there. Don't get me wrong, I am sure they are still great games, but evolve already! I would LOVE to see a fully 3D (even if overhead view), nice sounding, nicely animated, pokemon game. I would snatch it up like that.

If they can bring back some decent designs I'm all up for it. But from what I have seen the new gens of Pokemon are quite dull and lack any real inspiration.

And it's true. It's like if CoD started with BLOPS2 and they were gonna release CoD4 this Christmas. It gets old.
