2008 game of the year?!

2008 is slowly coming to an end so which game do you think will become game of the year for 2008(out or coming out)?

which one and details why?!

I think GTA IV will get it, simply because it was awesome.

Gears Of War 2, Fable 2 & Fallout 3 all stand a good chance of getting it.

well there is quite a few, although GTA is a good contender, many people are geting bored of the GTA thing. so i doubt it will win though.

but games that might be on the list:

Mass Effect
WOW expansion
Crysis warhead
COD4

and a few more, but cant remember them all. i think RA3 is gona be good, but it wont make GOTY

Metal Gear Solid 4 because it is simply just an amaizing game, the graphics are supperb, the gameplay is exellent and the story line is also very well set out!

Bioware pushed ME before it was really done so it could qualify for last year's GOTY award. If they had waited, fixed the bugs then I would agree.

Wow, someone's got a terrible case of nihilist... Anyways, while I don't share the above opinion (although yes, awards of ANY kind done in public ARE marketing tricks) I think it's too early to say. I'm certainly hoping Fallout 3 will be great, kinda hoping to see an original performance from Gears of War 2, and I keep hearing interesting things about this Beyond Protocol, all of which hope to make it before 2008 is up. So too early to say!

As of now MGS4, but overall I really can't say anything until all games are out this year.

I want Gears of War 2 to win over GTA4, but I have a feeling it won't. The game of the year for me is most likely going to go to Wrath of the Lich King (WoW Expansion)

Nailed it. One of those, or maybe Fable 2, if it really blows the socks off everyone, will win it.

Really? Star Wars is having mixed reviews so it's out automatically. Gears 2 could win assuming it is at least as good as the first.

I think Little Big Planet if it really comes out this year. However, I wouldn't rule out Metal Gear Solid 4 or Braid.

Yeah, I guess it's easy to just look at what got the highest scores and decide what the nominees are going to be, but really it's just that those are the games that got talked about a lot as being great games. Yeah, GTA4 was up there too, but I just got the feeling that some people in hindsight decided it wasn't quite as great as they originally thought.

In summary, if LBP doesn't win it - and I have a strong feeling it will, but it's hard to say since it isn't out yet and hence there are no reviews - I say most likely MGS4.

Yeah I'd give MGS4 a slight edge on GTAIV, but I think LBP, Fallout 3, and believe it or not but maybe even Fable 2 could be contenders as well.

Yeah, aside from the DRM issue, it doesn't seem to be taking the industry by storm, at least not in the way GTA4 and MGS4 did.

The fanboy in me wants to say Metal Gear Solid 4, but this statement is true, with Little Big Planet, Gears 2, and Resistance 2 just to name a few coming down the pipeline.
