Lately when I've been playing GC, namely when playing Twilight Princess, my GC sometimes crashes. It's usually when you enter a new world. The game tries to read off of the disc a few times, and then a message saying "refer to your gamecube booklet for more information" appears. I've read my GC-booklet but it there is nothing helpful to there.

Anyone else have this problem and know its cause and how to fix it?

And better now that the system still works, it could be in its way to a complete damage

Without touching the lens, push the sliding disc reading mechanism gently towards the centre of the Gamecube as far as it will go. That may realign it. It has worked for me the two times I've had to do it.

If this is the first time this is happening, maybe it's the game. My GameCube has only froze once while playing Tales of Syphonia. I was not a happy camper. :x

My gamecube's been surprisingly long lived and running strong since we bought it in 2001.

Take a cotton-like fabric [your shirt if its cotton :P], make it damp then slowly clean the disk with it. Make sure theres no foggy sopts either. This too happened to me when I rented a game. When I did this is worked perfectly :)

And I've also had my Gamecube the Christmas it was released; and its perfectly fine. Most systems work in perfect condition unless they are being tossed around, poked at [in fragile places ], or just beinh handled uncarefully.

The GC brings up a error screen when one of the fallow things happen.

1)The system needs repairs or cleaning, try cleaning the Lens with a Cotton Swab damped with 90% Alcohol.

2) The drive may be malufunctioning or the system may be almost overheating.

3)The game may be dirty, scratched or a bad disc.

4) Some games have bad bugs, these bugs will freeze up the Cube or bring up a error sometimes. EA games have been known the most do do this.

Do some games really have bugs?
