Handhelds are traditionally region free, while consoles tend to not be. The Gamecube has region restrictions, but there's a boot disc out there that bypasses this rather easily. Can't remember what it's called, though.
your going to need a disc called freeloader which helps you bypass the region lockout or you could open your gamecube and modify it so that you dont need the freeloader disc
