As many of us grow older we start to see changes in ourselves and how we react to the people around us (please shut up megamatics we don't care). not to sound to philosophical but changes are needed to prosper towards the future in a positive fashion but to me it seems I'm not to happy with the recent changes to the Final Fantasy formula, as you would probably call this "Real-Time-Combat". I have always been a fan of their turn based fighting systems and am coming into a bit of a "Meh" Period with the recent games that have surfaced from . I don't mean to sound Ungreatful for some of their works in progress such as but as with some people I was Let down by Final Fantasy 11(Although the great and intuitive story it Possessed). What made me wanna play final fantasy was their sub strategic qualities and ability to not always rely on brute force to win everything. The last time I truly felt like i was playing a Fantasy was Final Fantasy 3 for the DS and I'd Like to Feel like that a few more times before square fuses itself with another company. so If anyone would like to comment my Plight or Leave some NASTY COMMENTS >:/ go Ahead :)

I honestly don't know what to say since I've enjoyed all the Final Fantasy games(played XI for a few months) to a degree. I guess it's the wait that has made me feel distanced.

I guess it's because of the wait too, XII was alright to me but didn't reinvent the seriesso I can understand where he's coming from.

Nasty comment......blah blah blah! Hehe. JK! Well, the wait doesn't really matter as long as I get my game. The FF are getting less interesting but the other stuff SE is releasing, I'm liking.

I have to respectfully disagree XII was in my opinion one of the most original game of the main series, from the combat system to the fact that for once the protagonist wasn't necessarily the main character, it was really something fresh for the FF franchise.

final fantasy, it seems like i'm going on the same ride over and over again when i play the final fantasy games... final fantasy's great, but Square Enix needs to take it up to the next level if they want the series to survive for a long time.

Well you enjoyed it and that's the important thing, I won't turn this thing into some pointless argument so I respect your opinion.

I'm hoping FNC revents Final Fantasy. I think we've gotten good Final Fantasy games, but the most recent games weren't able to carry a huge rippling effect of goodness throughout the entire industry. I guess people are looking forward to a alteration like that.

The battle system wasn't that bad. The story and graphics made up for it. I didn't really have no problem with it. I just hate the way you level up.:x

I agree to a certain extent, and then i remember all the great times FF games have given me. Yeah it takes forever for a new game to come out, yeah they dont reinvent the game with every new title, but what makes a FF game FF? Great visuals, great powers, cool monsters, and even cooler allies. How many games have had all of these? All of them, with each new game comes more badass bosses, allies monsters mini games and dialouge. If one were to reinvent the combat system too much it wouldnt be FF. Each game has a great storyline, plenty of side quests and minigames, if one was to play all of it and get there full moneys worth of the game, by the time you actually completed the whole game, FF so and so would be at your doorstep.

And im pretty sure the fantasy will never end, because its exactly that, a fantasy, these games will go on in a persons lfe forever, or at least until we lose our imagination. I know i love to emerse myself into the FF world because i love to just let my imagination fly. And i love to let it suck me in and leave me with images of epic battles and huge worlds full of friendly and unfriendly people. I say keep the FF games coming and never change the basic elements of them.

megamatics... yay! it's been a while man! :) nice to see you again around here. :D

as long as they do not make FF it totally real-time like crystal chronicles or the likes of Diablo II, i think i can still tolerate it. :P

Problem is that some people say that the battle system of FFXII steps out of the traditional (and fun) FF battles, whereas some people say that the new real-time combat is a great next step to a new era of FF battles, so Square get kinda confused on how to set up the battle system on each title now :P

In my point of view, the battle in FFXII was ok. Although I would have said that it's the best battle system if there was a better style of Limit Break, more useful Espers, and better boss strategies. Oh and better enemy scaling because most of the enemies looked small when compared to the enemies from other FF games

I think that i have to be one of those people who is looking forward to the real-time combat games. Although I do not mind the turn-style, it is kind of odd if you think about it...."I have a sword, why can't i hit him right now?....oh..I have to wait my turn..okay.." but then again I can understand it when it comes to summoning or casting magic since if that was possible in real life, it would probably take a little while to cast the spell. But then again I'm just happy to play any game they throw at me :)

Not everyone was the fan of the ATB when it was introduced first in the Final Fantasy series. Many felt it was adding pace to a genre where strategy was of utmost importance. But didn't ATB bring forth some of the most exciting battles in the JRPG genre in games like FFVI and FFVII? Do you think that the boss battle with Sephiroth would have been as dramatic and intense if there were no Time Bars,no urgency. I don't think so.

Keep in mind that FF battle systems are a constantly evolving structure. With each entry in the series, whether it's the genius SquareSoft or it's commercialist (sorry for using that word) successor Square Enix, they ARE trying to improve the battle system. FFXII is only the second time real-time battle has featured in a FF game. Give them more time to experiment. More time to refine the battle system. Perhaps by FFXIII or FFXIV you will have the ideal real-time gameplay that will please all. I know that many weren't pleased with FFXII's radical change in development but Final Fantasy fans need to understand it's only done to save the genre from repetition and stagnation.
